Does “this” even work — meaning, giving titles like that to videos? I’m subscribed to JayZTwoCents, but I see myself clicking on their videos much less frequently than on other techtubers’, like MKBHD, LTT, GN, Hardware Canucks, you name it, exactly because they don’t name it.
Quite positive his shitty clickbait thumbnails pushed away most of his original watchers.
EastImpossible1167
Can’t do much about it, rather than getting the DeArrow extension.
Replaces the title with a community one and the thubnail with a random shot within the video, just like old YouTube
KingRichardTheTurd
I unsubbed a few months back and I’d been subbed since the channel started basically. I dunno man, just feels like nothing original is going on. It’s either another paid review of a water block or having their say on tech drama that’s already been out for three days after everyone else has done the hard work.
Also constant car references and they use hwmonitor as opposed to hwinfo. I can’t forgive that.
Alexalmighty502
I hate clickbait titles like this it feels the same as a person jiggling keys to get the attention of a baby.
jarchack
It seems like every channel that gets big enough eventually leans into sponsorships and click bait thumbnails. I’m really sick of VPN ads, iFixit, food supplement shills and over-the-top thumbnails. If social media is this bad now, what’s it going to be like in 5 years?
deusasclepian
Well the video has 148K views in the last 21 hours, so clearly it’s working
Personally I haven’t watched Jay in years. It became clear that he’s out of ideas and he’s just pushing out slop to keep the Content™ flowing
HarveyBirdmana
Used to watch his channel fairly regularly. I don’t remember the exact video/moment I stopped, but he just kind of became insufferable and I unsubbed a long time ago.
I think he’s driven away a lot of his older fanbase.
AdLower5936
I’m ever so slightly staying in the know on computer stuff, GN gives me everything I want, with to my knowledge unbiased information and opinions.
outtokill7
Its one thing to have a clickbait title but another to do that and blur out the subject.
My guess is this will be the title and thumbnail for a few days and then it will be changed to be more accurate. I know Linus does something similar but they don’t blur out the subject in the thumbnail.
He really needs to do another celebrity build or a themed build.
X-lem
You find JayZ videos more click bait than LTTs? I’ve always found them about the same tbh.
Hard to fault them. They do it because it works. People are partly to blame because they fall for it. YouTube is partly to blame because of their algorithm.
Piotreek100
Why would I care what thing do not work? He thinks I will be worried that I own whatever he holds? What’s the chance? This is beyond stupid.
Blacksad9999
I think the issue is that there are 100 of these Techtubers all trying to fill the same exact niche, and most of them don’t stand out.
I don’t need to watch ten videos all benchmarking the same thing, looking at identical products, or what have you.
If their channels specialized in specific things, while it might limit their total overall audience, they’d get more traction because most of the people into that specific thing would all watch them.
jaegren
J2C should have sticked with watercooling and not talking about shit that he doesn’t know anything about. Just listening him talking about his AMD vs Intel bullshit that he only makes for the views proves that.
MikeMMJMaster
I’ll be honest I stopped watching almost all tech YouTubers. Content has shifted to just generate money over community connection.
Fairstrife_Deception
clicky title statistically work, complaint about it wont ever change human behavior.
Changing people’s behavior takes decade and even centuries.
youtube didn’t invent anything. newspapers and magazines always have titles to pique curiosity.
Working_Building_29
I’ve unsubbed and I was subbed from the beginning. The clickbaity titles and thumbnails and the lack of real or new information pushed me away. I like Jay but there are at least 5 other tech YouTubers that do it better now.
Breck_the_Hyena
LTT is not better than Jay.
But almost all tech channels are doing the same crap.
bangbangracer
Well, based on statistics, clickbait does work and the people who it doesn’t work on are the outliers.
Bushpylot
All of the AI splash screens on YouTube and these Click-Bait beginnings turn me off. Just looks stupid, lazy and like you are a shill.
tycoon282
The ‘OGs’ of my era techtube have all had their moments & fallen off in different ways. Kyle bitwit/awesome sauce, Paul’s hardware, jay, tech syndicate (lot longer ago), marques. Linus is one of those that I always have to watch I’m a sucker for 90% of their stuff, GN I watch all the big coverage there. Used to love TTL on OC3D but haven’t watched him in years now. Idk, everyone chasing the YT algo I guess its gonna happen that we’re gonna fall outta love with them eventually
LastRedshirt
I do not click at clickbait titles anymore. I saw his video about “you have to use THIS software”. Nah. Why should I click?
Sebas_2160
I got tired of his rant videos and unsubbed years ago.
TheOneAndOnlySenti
That man taught me almost everything I know about PCs back in the day, and led to me building my first ever PC thanks to his vids. Now days I forget I’m even subbed to him. These thumbnails are pure slop.
MozzTheMadMage
Imagine going to YouTube in ’24 expecting anything other than clickbait
wowmuchdoge_verymeme
I’ve been unsubbed from them and LTT for a long long time.
AlanGeisse
I unsubbed like two years ago. Tired of this guy.
Bad_Hominid
Jay offers zero useful information these days. He used to be a great source of info and inspiration for all kinds of builds, but then he got away from that stuff and became a generic tech influencer.
Sowderman_Unbanned
I quit watching jayz2c a long time ago, he has not aged well with the times and has far too many ads
apachelives
Run a repair workshop 15+ here. The dude cant diagnose a pc for shit, i cringe at his videos. Cant stand the guy.
Maleficent_Street74
I automatically select “don’t recommend this channel” on absolutely any video where they make stupid faces on purpose to get extra clicks.
DIRTRIDER374
I have stopped watching any techtube except Gamers Nexus, and rarely, Louis Rossmann, and Level 1 techs, because Wendell is cool.
Most fell off, do clickbait, lost integrity, or in J2C case, he’s kind of an ass, does clickbait, and doesn’t do the things I started watching him for. Stopped watching LTT when they stopped being small, and any integrity or quality went out the window, and videos were just meme material.
Watched plenty of others too, but I’m not going to write an essay about it.
MasterBlaster4949
Jay a real one no doubt💯
thetoxicnerve
JayZNoSense is utter garbage these days. He stepped outside of his niche, without the knowledge to actually back it up and has made an idiot of himself multiple times crying wolf about various issues.
The guy is trash.
rustystrings1991
I’m more of a Paul’s Hardware kind of guy myself. His videos are noob friendly and he has a general chill vibe
DylanDesign
I unsubscribed a long time ago, he rambles for way too long to get a video to the 10 minute mark, and thumbnail and titles are clickbait garbage.
Calm_Exercise_9170
I stopped subbing to this guy a long time ago. Annoying thumbnails, bait titles and annoying facial expressions
daestos
J2C is a tech bro YouTuber who focuses far more on impression content rather than any real objective or technical content. He’ll constantly misrepresent things just because of his feelings surrounding something. In a lot of ways, he’s just a typical gaming PC user but given a spotlight and a lot of funding to do things that typical gaming PC users would love to have the opportunity to do.
I really liked his content during the Skunkworks era and a year or so beyond that, but it’s been a very long time since his glory days. Now he’s not really got anything to work on, not that he’ll finish any of it anymore even if he did have any projects, and these days, just kind of gives you his lukewarm impression about tech and current events or pretends to be outraged about insert controversy here.
I still can’t get over the fact that he switched away from AMD because he was using a terrible Asus motherboard which made the processor unstable but blamed AMD. Not to mention the fact that he still even uses Asus products at all despite claiming to condemn them after the fiasco with warranty support and burning AM5 chips. As if that was actually the case since he was basically Incorporated with them indirectly via Corsair brand integration with his J2C branded AIO CPU cooler.
Dude tries to come across like a friend who is a genuine guy, but he’s actually just a hack who is late to trends and is generally a grifter who makes choices and spreads information based on his preferences and the money he gets. I have no respect for the man since he clearly has no respect for his audience or their ability to realize his hypocrisy.
Farandrg
Yes, he went for the clickbait and terrible thumbnails and now has lost the interest of most people. If a video doesn’t have the name of the thing, I just ignore it.
