This is just a little bit cheaper; not considerably cheaper. 100$ difference on high end, 20$ on low end.
If AMD was smart they’d lower prices even more to capture the people fleeing from Intel 13th/14th. But AMD is always one to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Dealing with 13900k issues right now and already considering just calling it a loss. $100 lower on the high end would cover a decent chunk of the mobo.
I’m waiting like most gamers for the x3d version pricing/release info.
I’m so tempted, but my 3600 is still chugging along, and I haven’t encountered any issues with gaming performance yet.
IDK if they will repeat the 7000 series price dive shortly after launch. With Intel tripping and no new Intel chips announced, probably not.
Sincerely hope that those will be good in content creation.
With current issues on Intel side selecting a CPU for creative work is trading between not so good performance or potentially faulty chip
My 3800x getting kinda sluggish and I don’t have a lot of patience, but I’ll have to wait for the x3D variants to drop anyway since Nvidia is in no rush to move on from the 4000 series.
I’m definitely taking the step from my 5900X to 9000 series. Gonna be interesting to see benchmarks.

I had no idea they were releasing two new AM4 CPUs… why are they? Are they different from the 5800x and 5900x?
I haven’t been this excited for a CPU release since the FX55. Feels good to be back on the AMD train, soon. Nature is healing.
I may finally upgrade from my i7-8700k build this generation and I am going AMD for sure.
7600 is currentlt at around $195. Better MSRP but not better at current prices.
If it’s like what people say where the 7600x is the the 5800x3D I would hope the 9600x is comparable to the 7800x3D

This next gen is when I finally switch to AMD it seems like. Intel is going the Nvidia route (MSRP-wise), but their products are getting worse.

If IPC goes up and TDP comes down, as promised, I’ll sell my 7900X and get a 9900X ASAP. Very happy with the 7900X performance in audio, can run so many virtual instruments and FX. When I used to game, it was solid too.
So from the leaked pricing… 7600 is still a good buy today right? Gets me on the AM5 platform for a lower price than any 9000 CPU and has good price to performance. And then I get drop in something better 5 years later without needing an entire platform upgrade

9700x looks really sweet price and performance wise. Even 9900x seems to be worth it.
I just bought a 7600x for under $200 I was hoping for something closer to $200 so I could return this and go that route, but it looks promosing for future upgrades
I just ordered a new 7800x3d to leave the Intel fiasco shit, should I wait for the 9000? I feel like it’s going to be months out
How out dated is my x570? Do I need to upgrade to use 9000?

What’s great is I get to enjoy my 7800x3d and upgrade to the newer one with the same AM5 chip in the future. AMD can’t be stopped at this point.

They just be cheaper because they are worse for gaming compared to 7800x3d. Wtf AMD.
Okay, well damn. I need to delete my 14700k post that I said about being happy I own a 14700k. There is no way these prices won’t jump. I would also like to learn if they plan on sticking with the separated ccu and what that will do in gaming. Because da-yum that be some juicy thread counts. Unless Intel can drastically change their tune and be better, I do not see how Intel will be able to compete with this bang for buck. Especially with combo deals.
I am going to guess that resellers are going to jump the price by at least $100 if not more and these will probably jump higher with the demand that will happen.
We shall see what the true price to performance is on these things because the potential specs could just really leave even the staunchest Intel fans foaming at the mouth. While I won’t probably upgrade for at least 2 more years, I am excited to see AMD deliver this and hopefully consumers will be able to come out on top for once.
Next up nvidia needs to be taken down a couple pegs by AMD putting in better encoders. If they get that going then they win 2025 and onward. I am on a 3060 12gb and if they can at least deliver on that without relying on stupid upscaling AI, it’s game over for other vendors to claim they are “premium”. I like the taste of the cool aid but I’m willing to switch to store brand if it’s just better in every way.
That 9900X at $450 is making it hard to consider an i7 at $400 (considering that the i7 might not work in three months). I’m interested to see how this performs in multi-threaded and productivity benchmarks.
Does this need the newer chipset or can I swap it with my 5090x?
