good method from keeping siblings or family members from using your pc.

  2. Just gotta give it the old jump start at that point.

Looks like it’s just the remote, so one could just walk up and manually turn it off if need be.

That’s pretty I might even get one if I go for my next sim racing setup plan

That seems a good idea. I might get one

I feel like the sort of person that would want to purchase and install something like this, is also probably savvy enough to set up Wake-on-LAN.

Just use wake on lan/wan and turn on your computer from your smartphone

Only if this didn’t need a PCIe slot for my itx build

I legitimately use this everyday lol. Check my profile if you don’t believe me, posted a vid a while back. It’s super helpful. I originally got it because where my PC was the power button was annoying to get to. But now I’ve moved and the remote sits on top of my dresser right when I walk in my room. So when I get home from work, I walk in the door, click a button, and my PC is on and ready to be unlocked by the time I sit down at the desk.

I thought we all just leave them on. What are we, in the 90s?

I mean this is definitely useful, but I feel like it’s a waste of a PCIe slot

    Great little board.
Sometimes you may need to turn on or reboot computers that are in verry high or small places, like projection systems or live events.

  12. I have a HTPC that looks more like AV equipment than a PC and I will almost certainly get one of these so I can turn my PC on when I turn my tv etc on cause at the moment I leave it on full time

Linus unironically uses this for his LAN center computers in his house since the computers are physically not in the same room as the monitors and keyboards (server rack)

My poor PC after me trying to figure out why my car won’t lock or unlock for the last 30 mins 😭

  15. Zadchiel

I’ve been tempted to get one of these to see it it’s legit

Hopefully it has a short range. Imagine your SO grabbing that instead of their car keys turning your computer on and off repeatedly.

If the remote ran out of battery do I need to come close to the PC and molest the start/stop button like my car ?

This would be nice to have. I’d rather have it for a laptop (I used to use a laptop as a desktop for 3 years….and I always left the hinge ajar because It’s the easiest way to turn the thing on. So annoying.

But on my now desktop, I have my headphone wires in a strange way that makes the power button hard to get too.
