As an Aussie, feel your pain as well. May we be blessed with great sales, friend.

One day, friend. I just realized how extremely lucky I am to have one 15 mins from me

Me an American living over a thousand miles away from the nearest Microcenter. In case you are not aware our country is on the large size. For European scale this is like being told you need to drive from Paris France to the border of Belarus.

To be fair, most Americans have to say that too, given there aren’t that many locations throughout the country. The nearest one to me is about 2 hours away, which isn’t bad compared to many.

US prices are very deceptive.
You may see a Motherboard that is listed in the EU or UK for 300, but <200 in a US Microcenter.
That’s because like a lot of places in the US they usually dont put the tax on the price tag, so you’ll end up with a magic 60 or more dollar stuck on it at the end.
Do that for each part and you can easily end up with an extra 400-800 dropped on you at checkout.
Even official discounts are still far closer to the pricing of the rest of the world than it first appears

nearest is 8+ hour drive from me…

My wife hates that we have one literally around the corner from us. 6% tax here so not a huge not seeing the real price issue. Also we pay it on everything except groceries so you learn to calculate it when looking at prices.

I work about half a mile from a microcenter and drive by it every day. It take A LOT of self-control to not go in every day.

FYI, it’s *a European*, not *an*.
*An* is used to precede words that begin with a vowel sound.
*European* begins with a consonant sound.
Just like “a yogurt.”

I miss Fry’s Electronics. I got my first PC’s motherboard/CPU/Ram from them, they also had bundles.

I work 10 mins from the Irvine, CA Microcenter, which I feel is like a life cheat code. You can just walk in there and get all the sold out stuff usually because they don’t take calls or update stock online so if you go in every day for a week and keep asking they’ll clue you in on when another truck is coming and you can just buy whatever you want at MSRP. I got my 4090 easy in there, the only real exception was at peak bitcoin 30 series era, there were lines every morning from human garbage flippers.
If anyone outside the US wants to take the risk of whatever your country’s customs system is like for international mail I’ll happily go pick up whatever you want and ship it to you if you send me the loot. You just have to trust that the shipment won’t get intercepted and that I am not a scammer lol.

Jayz2cents is notorious in making youtube videos about building “affordable” gaming PCs. And you’ll find out that all the components were bought in shops/websites that are accessible only in the US.

Lucky for me Microcenter opened up a new location on the other side of town from me. I went the grand opening, haven’t been back. I’m saving up to make one good trip.

Mine is down the street. And there used to be a Frys 10 minutes from microcenter.

I want a microcenter in Washington state. No idea why they don’t have a store ult there considering it’s a tech heavy area.
