I think it’s dependant on time period.
If it’s pre 2077 I think some (not all) fixers should stay (and add new ones of course), vik, Jackie, misty, Pepe the bartender, some other smaller NPCs. Depending on how early I could see a pre Arasaka Johnny and crew, would be nice to see a spider Murphy or Morgan blackhand in there, but would be hard to tie the player into the Arasaka timeline since everyone is written in already.
If it’s post 2077 I think vik, the younger fixers plus Mr hands. Especially if it’s many years after 2077. Would be cool to see vik as an old man with an apprentice under him or something and that’s your beginner ripper. I don’t think love interests (sorry panam and Judy), but River and Kerry would kind of make sense as some minor side missions instead of love interests. Maybe River turns into a Regina and send you jobs, and Kerry is like a Lizzy wizzy type of character
Overall I think post 2077 would be better for the sequel and as long as there’s a couple characters from this game we will all be happy.

They’ve said the landscape will look much more american. People have said the city had aspects that did not look inherently american from street signs to curbs. I’m thinking that it’s going to be a different location all together. Exploring the continental US could be neat but I’ll be sad to not see what else NC could have to offer in a different timeline.

I dont care honestly … I’m going to e very raw with this comment , but I wish that the sequel is gonna be less about emotional shit. Yes it was the first game and like everybody else i was in the phase of discovering Night City and the characters and all that. However , shit needs to go way more down in the sequel , I want to be making shady skeems and deals left and right , gang wars and corpo wars that erupts. Being an actual badass like Morgan Blackhand or Johnny with the reputation preceeding it in dialogues. Yes shit has been going down in the first game with the relic and the DLC. But that exactly the point. With that ending in Phantom liberty where you get into the heart of the Cynosure project, we saw how deep and more fucked up the story could get.
I just hope the sequel will be 150% more rock n roll , sex and violence. That’s all. Felt at times I was playing a emotional roller coaster more than anything. (I’m obsessed by the game by the way I just want the best for the sequel)

I would say Vik, but on the other hand I think of new characters that could be just as good, and we would be missing out on these new opportunities to meet something new because we feel nostalgic, I don’t think I expect old characters, but that we can at least find some references and news about some old characters or something familiar.

Meredith Stout, Gillean Jordan, Regina Jones, There are three characters that I missed from some more in-depth missions and that could show a lot of the Cyberpunk universe, Meredith inside the corporations that dominate Nity City, Gillean inside the media and everything involving the information that circulates through the city and its corruption, and Regina in the media underworld, where we could see the media world through the eyes of someone who is not subject to corporate control.
