Man nice. I had 151 on red too. Some weird trick with fishing if im remembering correctly is how you get mew. Probably ate up 100 aaa batteries to do this.

Wow. What a find! Are you planning on dumping and backing up the save? I sure would if I had been that lucky. I had beautiful saves from all sorts of games from my childhood, but my siblings wasted everything. 😥

So that save exists thanks to a battery. Those batteries usually last around 25 years, if you bought this game at launch then the expiry date was in 2021, if later then a few years later, I am not sure how long they kept making brand new cartridges for this game. And ofc ourse they can last a few years longer then intended (or shorter).
Anyway, there are guides online on how to replace batteries, preserving your save might be pretty difficult or require additional gear.

That looks like one of those hand helds that you can buy on Amazon that has like 20.000 games on it. There’s a menu button on the bottom of it?

The sad thing is that you once turned it off, not knowing it’s gonna be the last time. Great to see you can get right back into it!
