Do you still remember all the GPUs you ever had?

  1. ATI 2600XT – ATI 2900 XT – GTX 760 – GTX 1060 – RTX 3070 – RTX 3080TI

    The 760 was the first I ever bought myself. Now I’m just waiting for the 5090/5080.

    I remember the 2600XT overheating all the time. I could only play at the lowest resolution for 2 hours max before the computer crashed. The 2900XT worked great until it randomly died and I had to go back to the 2600XT.

    I can still picture the blurry mess of dead space at the lowest setting and resolution. Still a great gaming experience.

    * GT 630 (I didn’t know how shit it was, I was new to PC hardware)
    * GTX 660
    * GTX 1070 Ti
    * RTX 3070 Ti
    * RX 7900 XTX

  3. My first (Medion) PC there is no way I can know. I didn’t care. I picked up the computer from the store in a box, and paid for it, just like that. The computer wasn’t even build in the store.

    Then:
    -NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra (artifacts) -> Replaced to something 200-300 series CUDA. Was half the size
    -Nvidia 250M (laptop)
    -555 something (laptop)
    -GTX 1080 strix gaming (worked well, but was the noisiest part of my computer. Some shadows on the monitor while using it)
    -RTX 4060 ti Ghost -> Quiet and reliable! Current.

  6. GTX 280

    GTX 780

    GTX 1080TI

    RTX 4080

    No idea about before the 280, as I had a pre-built and was young.

  7. Throwaythisacco

    not a super long list but

    GT 730 –> GTX 1050 –> RX 580 –> Vega 64 –> RX 7700 XT –> ??? (likely to replaced in the near future)

  8. Nika299p

    ATi HD 4350, Intel hd4400(integrated), EVGA GTS 250, gigabyte gtx 770, Asus RX 5700

  9. That’s easy. RTX 4070… I have just recently built my first PC, so that’s all I have.

    Well technically there is GPU in the CPU in my Laptop, a Intel UHD Graphics, but that doesn’t count.

  10. badablahblah

    For sure. Back in the late 90s early 2000s you almost NEEDED to upgrade every six months. Generations did not last long, the 3D visuals improved by leaps and bounds so fast. The last 10 years GPU upgrades have seemed more like habit than necessity.

    My journey goes all the way back to 1997 with the Rendition. I somehow made that thing last my late teenage years and skipped all 3DFX cards.

    Rendition Verite V1000

    Riva TNT 2

    GeForce 2 Ti

    GeForce 6800 Ultra

    GeForce 8800 GTX

    GeForce GTX 980 Ti

    GeForce RTX 2080 Super

    GeForce RTX 4090

  11. Yes. The upgrade progression has been:
    Ati x1950xt
    Nvidia 9800gtx+
    AMD HD 6870
    Nvidia gtx560ti x2
    AMD R9 290x x2
    AMD Rx 5700xt
    Nvidia GTX 1080Ti
    AMD Rx 6900xt

    From all of those my fondest memories are of the r9 290x.

  12. AAAAAAAAAAHsendhelp

    my first was a gainward 8600 GT, gtx 760 (I think), gtx 1050ti, then another 1050ti, then rtx 2060

  13. KrazyKryminal

    Oldest cards I can remember.

    Voodoo 3 and Voodoo 5 5500.

    After that I only remember a R9 290. 1660ti and now a 3080ti.

  14. builder397

    Yup, got a fairly similar progression actually.

    First one is forgotten, but it was a 16MB one on a 133Mhz Pentium PC, so pretty much overkill. Then goes:

    1.2Ghz Athlon with Geforce 2 MX/MX400; 1.8Ghz Intel 2 Duo with 8500GT, Pentium D with 9800GT 1GB, later 9800GT 1GB eco, 4x3Ghz Athlon II X4 640 with GTX 570, Ryzen 5 2600X with GTX 1060 3GB and now Ryzen 5 3600 with RX6600.

    Got happy memories with all of them, but I gotta admit, two of those were serious missteps.

  15. Michaloslosos

    i5-3470 iGPU -> GT 710 -> Ryzen 7 5700G iGPU -> GTX 1660 SUPER -> RTX 4070 SUPER

  16. The_Metroid

    GTX 1050, RX 6600. Hopefully RX 7800XT or 7900 GRE in the future.

  17. Ati 7000 > Ati x300 > Nvidia 7950 > Nvidia 9600 > Nvidia 250 > Nvidia 670 > Nvidia 1070 > Nvidia 4070ti

    Laptop: Amd HD3650, Amd HD7650M, Nvidia 1050ti. I no longer buy laptops with discrete graphics so this is the end of the list.

  18. normllikeme

    Riva128zx. Voodoo banshee. Tnt2 ultra with a pair of voodoo 2s. Voodoo 3 3000. Not sure for a while there in my early 20s lol. Then 3850 ati. 760 gtx. Rx480. Rx580. 5600xt and now 5700xt. Not new I know but does 1080 just fine

  19. I think it was: GeForce 4 (MX 440 iirc), Radeon X800 (not sure which version), GeForce 8800GTS, Radeon HD6990(that dual GPU one), GeForce GTX 780, GeForce GTX 1080 and now GeForce RTX 4080 Super.

    How time flies…

  20. Intel HD Graphics – GeForce 330M – MSI Twin Frozr HD 7870 – MSI GTX 970 (as basic a cooler you could get away with) – EVGA GTX 1080Ti SC2 – AMD RX 6950XT Reference

  21. Admiral_2nd-Alman

    Some dual core Pentium integrated graphics, GT640, intel 620 integrated graphics, rtx 3080

  22. SeiferLeonheart

    You went from a 660 to a 4070? Sheesh, talk about an upgrade, lol

    Mine were:

    Still need to buy a replacement

  25. Master_Ad_5590

    ( note: all these cards I dealt with during pandemic times and prices were insane. I also flew through cards as I was working with my first build during my first job)

    Timeline consists of

    EVGA Gtx 1080ti
    EVGA 2060 KO

  28. unabletocomput3

    I’m much newer, but I remember my main ones

    First one was an hd 5450, gt710, rx 580, Vega 8 (ryzen 3 2200g), rtx 3060ti, rx 6800xt, rtx 3080 12gb, and finally a 4070ti

    There’s a lot of “downgrades”/side grades that I won’t list because I kept buying cards and throwing them in PCs to either sell or give to friends.

    i used to resell used parts a lot so my gpu was changing constantly. some i even had multiple versions of but my fav has to be the ASUS gtx580 MARS II.

  33. Let’s see… I feel like I have to be missing one. No possible way I went through college and grad school with only 4 cards, is it?

    You’ll notice I lived low on the poll most of my time. Always searching for great value, though the 8800 GT and HD 7950 Boost were splurges for that time in my life. I wanted to do a HD 7950 to 7900XT “downgrade” but couldn’t hold out. Major PC upgrade planned for late this year or early next year.

    S3 Savage 3d (S3)

    Nvidia GeForce 2 MX (Hercules 3d Prophet 2 MX)
    ATI 9200SE (Maybe the 9100, was Powercolor)

    Nvidia 8800 GT (EVGA?)

    AMD HD 7950 Boost (Sapphire)

    AMD RX6600 XT (AsRock)

  34. Bitter_Perspective51

    There is one that I wanted the most, the 980 TI, wanted to buy it as a temporary GPU for my new build, but ended up buying RX 5700 and few weeks later upgraded to 4080 super, man I love my PC

  35. Drummer61190

    I bought a VooDoo2 from an extended cousin but it kept shutting down my PC. We couldn’t figure out why but after all these years, my PSU clearly wasn’t strong enough lol. After that my stepfather gave me his PC with I think it was a 460 GTS. All I remember about it was card was blue and the box that had some kind of wolf on it. Damn I’m old.
