My PC caught fire today, my Computer didnt turn up then after a while i turned it on and my PC was sparkling and i immediately pulled out the supply cable.
After reviewing the PC i found out my Mother board got damaged
(see picture)
Now im very confused and dont know what to do.
Whether the PSU failed or my motherboard. Also if other parts like CPU, RAM, GPU etc. got damaged and are broken, dont now how likely that could be.
Anyone has experienced something like that or can give a educated guess on that?

Looks like there was physical damage to the VRM (RAM part of it)? Damaged Capacitor and Inductor, plus the MOSFET that burned up.
Shouldn’t have turned it on with that much physical damage.
You’ll need to replace the motherboard and possibly the CPU and RAM.
edit: Also some damage to the case.

the fire was the MOSFET that blew up but that physical damage must have been there beforehand, a mosfet explosion wont do that.

You lost two MOSFETs and overcurrented an inductor on a VRM.
This is good! It means regulation wasn’t lost or the VRM would have shut off. What likely happened was that a VRM phase got stuck on and so handled the entire power draw of the CPU by itself for more than the fraction of a second it was meant to.
So the CPU and RAM have a very good chance of being absolutely fine. Motherboard’s gone, though.

There is some obvious physical damage that could’ve led to a short between your motherboard and the case; that’s why they have standoffs to prevent them from touching. Something doesn’t look right on this, my guess this isn’t an isolated incident.
Without knowing the exact cause I’d get a new power supply also. Motherboard for sure obviously. Ram and cpu likely survived but there’s no guarantee
Power regulation stuff, so… Perhaps. Can’t be sure until you test each part individually
If the PSU is still okay there’s a chance shortage protection kicked in before any surges could reach the CPU and stuff, but you should check. If you have a spare motherboard or a friend who you can borrow a board from, slap your PCs guts into that and see how much still works
This is why I keep telling people not to cheap out PSU’s for high end GPU’s is just asking for some shit.. smfh.
