Why do I get my items from Amazon England when I buy them from my home in Ireland?

Okay so we (me and couple of my friends) had the same problem as well. From Hungary to Vienna we went thru Frankfurt what makes no sense. We have 3-5ms in Vienna and 18 in Frankfurt but with this twisted shit we had 30 ms in VIenna.
I went after this problem and it turned out we had some problems with our ISP to Vienna only… because of this we had worse connection Vienna than Frankfurt.
So maybe you have some ISP fuckery on your side as well (or could be different problem)

It happens to me once in a while. The only fix I know is to restart the game making you to directly connect to the game server directly.
It happens because of ping spike or packet loss if I had to take a guess, forcing the game to reroute via another server to give you the least ping.

I’m assuming you’ve already set your max ping lower?

Valve have mentioned this before they said something along the lines of the game ALWAYS choosing the closes server. The only time it doesn’t is when you have isp issues that force it to route elsewhere.

It’s your isp. Sometimes they cut costs by routing to cheaper data centres etc.
