Linux users are like computer vegans: the only ones more preachy and obnoxious than them are the computer vegan haters.

I’m pro linux, but honestly with the kind of rights this app was running, it could aswell nuke down any linux or mac machine just aswell.
The only reason it didn’t affect linux:
The app only runs on windows.
It has system level rights, so it can easily remote brick your machine if it wanted (or because of an faulty update)

i’m glad my lifestyle has completely insulated me from this.
the only indication i have that anything went wrong is people complaining online in this sub.

Like when Linux was backdoored by a CCP agent, only to be found out by a guy upset his benchmarks were taking 1 second longer than usual and dug through the code.
Linux users gotta be the most annoying circlejerkers of all time. If the actual PC implementation was as good as SteamOS on Steam Deck, I’d honestly consider it because that’s been the most positive experience I’ve had with Linux. But that’s moreso because the Steam Deck is a console and I can just quick resume from sleep, which Windows doesn’t support.

Incorrect, using Linux will save you. But it won’t save people who don’t use Linux
I see more memes about Linux circlejerk than actual circlejerk

These posts are really weird and just like…reinforcing the incredible hard on yall have for Windows like what…so fucking weird from a PC user that’s been using computers since DOS and has been exposed to so many other OSes.

What are you trying to tell me? That the conventions of security society pushes are about as useful as an asshole right here? **points at elbow**

Android is a fork of Linux.
And I use windows
So…… Linux vs Win war is pointless

Does PCMR post any content other than about how Windows users are being persecuted by Linux users?

I use Windows daily and I’m not affected by the CrowdStrike incompetence.

True. Unfortunate. But software diversity is still good because we don’t generally deal with *the same* **big problem** at the same time. I’m not saying everyone should use Linux or iMac because then we would be crap out of luck *if* there was a big problem with software in the future.
It may not save me, but at least I won’t be on windows any more.
Windows has been making a great case for switching to Linux for some time.
Today I spun up a VM to try out Linux mint. Thinking about switching my main desktop over but wanted to try this first since last time I tried Linux (Ubuntu) I had a really rough time.
Not sure why, but everything I struggled with last time on Ubuntu, I was able to figure out in minutes on mint.
Maybe I’m just more experienced this time around. Or maybe mint really is just that much more beginner friendly. Who knows.
