    I forgot that we used to call them 3D accelerators. It was because not every graphics card did 3D back then, so we needed to distinguish.

    3D Accelerator is definitely what I called it in 1998.

    Currently, I call it the other 3 interchangeably… Video Card and GPU mostly.

    I feel like this should be a “progressively grayer hair” meme. I think of them as video cards to this very day, but I usually correct myself and say GPU so I don’t sound like a total square.

    I don’t remember there being a lot of 3D Accelerator Cards after the Voodoo2.

    A 3D Accelerator Card was separate and in addition to a Video Card if you wanted to play games back in the day.

    A PC needed a Video Card to get a picture on the screen but they did not have the power to play proper games hence the reason you splashed out and bought a 3D Accelerator Card so you had both in your PC.
