AMD: Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Intelius the Crashed? I thought not. It’s not a story r-intel would tell you. It’s a CPU legend. Darth Intellius was a High Tier of the CPUs, so power-hungry and so high-clocking he could use the Voltage to influence the microarchitecture to create… frames… The dark side of the Voltage is a pathway to many BIOS settings some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerhungry… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did.”
I like the performance but damn, apparently that chip ate up to 302 Watts. Probably will end up somewhere like “just limit it to 200-250 and lose 2% performance”
New gen CPU outperforms older CPU. I think that’s pretty logical
Wait. I heard it matched the performance at 160w. So, it’s only a 12% uplift for double the power consumption? Nah not worth it. Just leave it at 160w and let it be an energy efficient beast 🤷🏻♂️

Are benches now also going to consider that the harder profiles are more likely to degrade the CPU in 2-3 years, if benchmarks already had to knock it down a notch with the intel baseline restrictions?
but won’t it be competing with the next gen of Intel chips, not these? so is 12% enough to stay on top?
Let’s see what intel can do now. Given the stability issues with 14th gen, I’m about to switch over unless the next gen blows my socks off.
Looking forward to see the performance scaling graphs over different wattages, Gonna be rough time for intel until Arrowlake arrives in the fall!

Anyone that’s been around technology long enough knows that every single time something comes out, something new comes out six months later that’s better. That’s just the way it works. Buy what suit your needs, what suits your budget, and that works well. It’s not that hard.
