Following yesterday’s post… Feel free to kill me in the comments 😅

  2. If there’s anything that Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and Shadow of the Erdtree made me realize it’s that I miss proper expansion packs. Nothing better than to dig into a heaping helping of more good stuff.

Then you have the Valhalla DLC for God of War Ragnarok, hours of story and gameplay content, that cost absolutely nothing. It would honestly be worth £30, it’s that good of a DLC.

The Fallout 3 DLC is so good it makes me want to replay it.

  5. EdsTooLate

Tribunal and Bloodmoon were fantastic additions to Morrowind.

Man, remember when DLC was all on the level of the stuff that came out of Borderlands?

  7. DoubleSummon

I think the expansion terminology got lost once we moved to online gaming libraries.
Some DLCs are indeed expansions, and idk why they are not marketed as such.

Warcraft 3 the Frozen Throne and Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction were both amazing.

Expansion Packs and DLC aren’t the same thing. DLC are typically much, much smaller in size. Less content for your money. I remember when Expansion Packs were physical copies.

Peopole like to complain about everything – it’s just a semantic question

Opposing Force was 70% of the length of the original Half-Life, which was NOT a short game. It added new enemies and weapons, and let you use an actual weaponized barnacle.

Fuck you Arc System Works. You make good fighting games, but half of the content is locked behind 60$ worth of DLC

Meanwhile me being on the other side of the plagiarism debate between EFT and Arena breakout infinite

I have several times objected to referring to the two Morrowind expansion packs as “DLC” and been told to shut up grandad.

    I’m in my thirties. :/

Expansion packs add loads, DLC, here have 1 extra thing, CIV is a great example for this, loads of DLC and it’s one civ

  16. Theoretically even the base game is DLC these days, as it’s downloadable content. The word kinda has no meaning anymore, if it ever had one.

  17. Vestalmin

A DLC doesn’t just mean a microtransactions though so this meme is just adding to this annoying conversation

That being said, “Downloadable Content” is an outdated term in the era of downloading games so it should probably be sunsetted

  18. HawksBurst

One is the lettuce, tomato and so on for the burguer that should’ve had from the start, and the other one is the side that comes with it

  19. Dave_the_Bladedancer

All expansions are DLC. Not all DLC is an expansion.

Funnily enough, I had this exact conversation with my Dad a few weeks ago!
