I'm trying to get the heat under control on my 14900k but the best I can do without shooting up to 100C and staying there is a Cinebench r23 score of 34.5k. I've seen like 38-39k from most others. Any help or tips? I have an MSI z790 edge and have LLC set to mode 4 and lite load control set to mode 9 right now, but it still hits 99C. Do I just need a bigger cooling solution? I'm using a Lian Li Galahad 240mm AIO.

Edit: Just had some really decent results for my 14900k. Not messing with it from here and will test stability over a long period of time now.

    240mm on a 14900k ? Bro if you want less heat you definitely need a bigger aio , 14900k is a furnace no matter what you do it will output heat like crazy you can limit your cpu power draw but it wont give you a better score since less power wont let the cpu boost to the max clock.

    Probably yes, you need better AIO, at least 360mm. But please tell me what motherboard do you use, in different BIOSes modes of LLC means different, on some lower digits mean more soft voltages, on other it means higher. Also you should probably buy TT contact frame, it helped some people with bending CPU.

    I advise Noctua D15 or Cooler Master MasterAir MA824 Stealth Dual Tower CPU Air Cooler… Its gives you a stable perfomance. And pls cross check with settings of gpu also ( change defalt gpu to dedicated gpu)

  5. Check that PL1 and PL2 are not over 253w and ICC max is not above 400. Watch a video on how to undervolt your chip. I’d disable undervolt protection and download Intel xtu, start with -25mV, do a single run on cinebench and if it passes then go to -30mV and so on.

  6. Upload a screenshot of hwinfo64 (all values visible) while running a r23 pass, something is wrong if your temp is shooting up to 100C on 307A icc max.

    Umm your gonna need a 360mm aio at bare minimum. It’s a 24 core cpu with dumb high clock speeds. The cooler will always be the bottleneck for these cpus.

    A 280/360 is enough for a 14900K with a contact frame and upgraded fans. 420 is better.

    Machine needs to be built properly, preferably front intake AIO.

    Delid(send it) 360++ aio or custom loop my boi. Also disable the two preferred cores from boosting to max (limits degradation due to the ridiculous vid required for those cores to boost to max)

    Yeah man you absolutely need a 360mm AIO for this. I’m running a 14900k with the power limit set in my MSI Z790 and an undervolt. Hitting 39k with temps between 70-80c on cinebench and consistently at 5.6GHZ with my P Cores. 360mm AIO is an absolute MUST.

    Not sure why you would choose Intel, but there are crash reports of those CPUs for people turning pl2 up to high everywhere in the world. Game studios also returning them.

    Just be careful of pl2 and realize Intel is no longer relevant till 2026-2027. Till their ASML machine is finally ready and in production of 18A/14A base nodes.
