For $1k go for it. You won’t do better brand new. Even around $1200-1300 it would be a stretch to say you could do better brand new.

i would never spend $1000 for used pc. used is for people with like $500
$1000 is great deal for seller bad deal for you. hardware is old.

Those are my specs. Runs everything great high/ultra setting at 1440p
No CPU upgrade path but the 5800X3d will last you quite a while. If you can get it for 1k, that would be a good deal imo.
I sold a much weaker version of this build for 1k and it was still a fair trade

I bought 32 GB of RAM back in 2017, and my friend said it wasn’t necessary. I am still using that computer today, only changed the GPU from GTX 1080 Strix Gaming to RTX 4060 ti Ghost, and I am sooo happy I got it. If your motherboard can support 64 GB of RAM, try to check how much extra that will cost you. (P.S. If I built a new computer today, I would have tried to get 128 GB of RAM). When you first buy a new computer, you should try to max it as much as you can! I would also recommend to get one more M2 disc. It’s very nice to be able to split your old stuff, with new stuff, or simply have games on one disc, and operative system on a smaller, but still big enough disc. M2 is the right way to go!
One last important thing. When I built my PC back in 2017, I was very very careful that the build I used was very very quiet. So you should check out before buying that the PSU and computer will run quiet. (Normally they would write on PSU and Processor fans if they are really quiet).
For my computer the GPU was the only thing making sound, and after changing to RTX 4060 ti ghost sound is non existenton my computer, even if I play Starfield, Hogwarts Legacy or World of Warcraft on maximum graphics (1440p).
On the other hand, that computer cost me $2500 (+monitor at $750), twice as much as your computer.
Bad idea to plan your pc purchase a decade in advance. Prices will surely fall by then, unless we’re talking gpu prices.

I really love my 6950 XT
That’s almost exactly my PC that I’ve been running for not quite 2 years now. It still feels very powerful and I can run most stuff at highest details at 4k resolution. Just don’t expect to use ray-tracing much, because it really tanks performance on these 6000 generation AMD cards. For gaming without ray-tracing it’s still a beast of a machine. 1k sounds like a steal for this much power.

I would be nervous buying a used system whole. I would want to know WHY they are selling it. I would also likely want to test it before buying it.

The system. Is. AMAZING. I have no plans to upgrade since i run most AAA games very, very comfortably right now
Great deal for $1000-$1200, I wouldn’t go much higher.
My 5950x and 6950xt still plays everything at 3440×1440.
If you have a MicroCenter near you you could do better or at least as good but new parts. If you got lucky you might get better from eBay. Overall all though it’s a good deal of it all works and was taken care of.
That’s basically like my computer system plus a better graphics card and an AIO. I love what I have and I probably spent about that much on mine (lost track because this rig is a Ship of Theseus candidate).
