I’ve never been much of a video game player (before buying a PS5 this past January and getting *Baldurs Gate 3* with it and then CP2077 last month, the last video game I played was *Dragon Age Origins* on the X-Box 360!) it seems to me as an outsider to the hobby and industry that Larian and CDProjket Red are like the only big studios in the industry that actually seem to value institutional knowledge and retain their staff for more than one project.
A lot of people I worked with in the military went into programming after the left the service, it seems like almost all of them have told me that they had more stability even with the Coast Guard, Navy, or Marine Corps sending them to a different duty station every couple years. Apparently the video game industry just hires a team *en masse*, has them work 23 hour days for a year, then fires them all as soon as the game ships… Hell of a way to run a business, if you ask me. 🤷
