I feel like a movie adaptation of Crazy Taxi would make for a good action-comedy.

Did anyone else ever struggle to imagine what the personalities of these violently mid 90s looking hipsters would be like?

As long as they make it a 90s period piece.

And I bet they’ll hire Kevin Hart to play BD Joe.

Soundtrack by the Offspring! Oh, and others I guess.

  9. So the premise is about “making money within a set time period with focus on speed and doing crazy stunts”.

So how would you escalate that premise to a climax, have some sort of arc, and tie it all together?

Two movies off of the top of my head that has cool driving in it is Baby Driver and Mad Max Fury Road. Both movies spend time developing characters that you care about but also has some stakes so you are invested in the outcome.

So go ahead and workshop this.

Which of the four characters will you use? What’s the motivation?

Is there a good explanation for why the action is time limited and driving dangerously is rewarded? It’ll have to be something not too farfetched, cause if it’s just gonna be “imagine a world where all taxis drive crazy” that sounds like some straight to Netflix bullshit.

Interesting in hearing what your fleshed out idea would be.

  10. Like others have said, uhm, these basically exist already 😉

Apparently at one point Richard Donner (yeah, Superman the Movie Richard Donner) tried but they couldn’t think of an effective plot hook.

I’ve had an idea for Outrun as a rom-com for a while.

I liked the game, until I picked up GTA 3 and realized it was now just a mini game in much larger game I could play instead.
