To be fair, Overwatch x Transformers could work. I think they fumbled half the pack, but it could potentially work. COD and Battlefield lost their originality and vision a decade ago, tho.

Honestly I’m not sure what to do with this. I’m not sure it’s entirely true. We have games like The Last of Us 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn which are creative and do things that other games aren’t doing. But it’s hard to argue against this because so many of the AAA games are not very creative and they just do the same old stuff over and over.

They’re not celebrating the collab, it’s just an obvious cash grab.
I think Mortal Kombat does it right. It’s more money but it feels they like they put thought into it; unique voice lines, references, unique fighting styles.
Smash Ultimate is another one that I think got it right.
