I remember I had the demo for this game and would play that thing over and over again hoping I would magically somehow unlock more characters and levels.

There is Gigabash on Steam, which has the same gameplay!

Nothing more satisfying than impaling your buddy followed by beating the shit out of them

This is, hands down, my favorite party game. It probably doesn’t hold up as well as when it first released, but man a remade version of this would be incredible!

I remember my dad just letting me pick out video games if we were out doing something after he got paid . We stopped at a random Target and I picked this game out just by the cover art alone.
One of the best random gaming decisions I made
Oregon-Transplant
I only had the demo when I was a kid and wasn’t very good at it so I would set it to 2 players and leave the second player alone while I just destroyed the city.

I have WOTM on my PS4 and it’s really fun

FUCK YES. War of the Monsters was my favorite game of the whole PS2 generation.
Every single monster had a backstory and personality that fit its fighting style and special moves.
Crazy I was just talking to my dad about this game the other day. Loved it

For me and my brothers this was one of our favorites to play together, very fun.
We sometimes would play a self-imposed mini-game on the city map (forget the name, but it was the rectangle one). We broke down all the buildings so it was entirely flat, and then we would stand on opposite ends of the map and just chuck stuff at eachother. Cars, parts of buildings, etc, it was like dodgeball.
Catches were legal of course, as well as coming to the midway line to try to zap someone with the electric pieces. Impaling with the spear-like pieces was legal, and if you landed one you were allowed to BLITZ ACROSS the map and start slamming. The absolute best is the oil-tank trucks because they would explode lol.
But honestly I just loved restarting the game and unlocking all the characters

This but modern physics and bigger/better environments would be nuts.

I want a new Rampage game. and a new game of this.

Ye GODS I loved this game. The fact that you could whack a building and then crush the people who fled from it to gain power / health back. LOTS o’ property destruction, cool critters.
At the time, I worked for a video game retailer and Microsoft has **HAPPY** to give us free X-Box units, but Sony was a bit peeved with us so no free PS2s (though we did get the occasional free game).
DoomRaider15
I never got to play the full game, but I played the demo I had for hours.
