Both can look good. Both can also look like shit. Some people are good at planning and designing, some aren’t.

AIO vs High-end air cooler (think NH-D15)
I prefer going with an air cooler, and have used an NH-D15 for two builds so far (12600k, and my current 13900k). I don’t face much thermal throttling on a regular basis, but it’s pretty much a given even if you go AIO.
Custom loops though look and perform amazingly if done right.

I can appreciate both, I personally only have rgb fans set to a static color
Optimal-Message4565
The only RGB I really loved is the Fractal North XL case with fire-orange lights inside so that it looks like a furnace.
My PC is all black, and all of the lights are white. Single-color lighting setups look better than stock, garish RGB

Ahem, the best pcs are the ones that give “bang for buck” I got a goddamn rgb ssd because it was on sale, everything else is dark.
My poor lonely ssd rgb

All dark!

Poo and tan is the best colour combo.

The only lit parts are my RAM and GPU. I may be inclined to buy a case with RGB fans if they were already included. Otherwise I’m fine with just a light sprinkle of RGB.
sh00dan
My sidepanels are metal, thou RAM got some rgb as it was on sale. Within few years I’ll be building some rgb with a pc for my son
edit: I think dark is prettier but in the end it’s the specs that matter
Ok-disaster2022
I like the white out trend recently. I hate dark on dark in a dark case for cabling and components. It make it more annoying to work on.

The fact that rgbs can be shut off makes me think there are other reasons why people don’t like them.

Not every inch needs to be rgb I understand wanting some color in your build but you don’t need rainbow ram
luisstrikesout
I prefer mine to have more colors than the pride parade
ZzangmanCometh
I’ll go for a few small light accents, like the logo on my Mobo, the GPU and the ring around my cooler in a low strength light. If not, just all dark. I personally can’t stand the rigs that look like a unicorn shit all over Times Square.
But you know… your money, your pc 🙂

All Dark and under the desk I don´t need big things to take up desk space.
I need the space for my 2 monitors, Keyboard, Mouse, Phone, Wallet, Keys and some figures..
And dark because I don´t need a Christmas tree making me half blind or detracted. It´s a PC not RAVE party lights.

Hill that I will forever die on:
That the Zboard Merc Stealth deserved a mechanical switch version instead of being bought out by Steel Series just so they could EOL the product line.
It was a fantastic keyboard especially during a time when shooters had Q and E peaking. It made for a really good MMO keyboard early on in WoW.
Most importantly it’s a good peripheral for someone who has only gamed on a controller prior transitioning to PC. Basically training wheels until you get more comfortable with an actual keyboard layout.
Rest in Peace Ideazon 🙏

If you plan to have your PC at a lower physical setting than your Monitor(s) and Peripherals, go all black.
If you want to waste all your precious Desk real estate in order to be able to appreciate your box at all times, go RGB.
Bonus: The latter option also works well if you happen to be someone with a poor circulation system, or a woman. Box right beside you will also keep you warm.

I want to get a PC case looking like one of those creamy white tower cases IBM made in the 90s.

My PC is under my desk and I don’t look at it anyway nor does anyone else so RGB is basically just a waste of electricity.
