Although it’s true that AMD has better fps per dollar. People are already used to Nvidia’s software. As someone that has used both AMD and Nvidia, the software is still the thing AMD is most lacking in, and most people probably don’t want to have to tinker with setting up an already expensive pice of hardware that should work without any issues. I’m using a 6800xt atm and although it’s a fantastic card it gave me more issues with compatibility and other software stuff than my old gtx 1080 ever did.

I love AMD but sadly I do not love FSR. DLSS is so much better that I’ll stick with Nvidia by now but I hope AMD gets their shit together soon enough. Amazing cards but like it or not, upscaling is here to stay. IMO even XeSS looks far better than FSR. I’ve not tried 3.1 yet though.

I was using an all AMD PC since 2019 because it’s BeTtEr On LiNuX but the damn 5700 xt crashed all the time if I didn’t messed with the voltages to get it steady.
Yesterday I finally bought an Nvidia card and, after a quick drivers installation and some packages, the thing was working well in a short time and it hasn’t crashed at all when gaming and putting it under strain, unlike that crappy thing from AMD. No more. I am just going to use their CPUs from now on.

I have a lot of experience with both Nvidia cards and AMD. I have used and built systems with both and provide troubleshooting help for the friends i built them for. The ones i built with nvidia cards, including my personal rig, never once had any issues with drivers that wasnt solved by updating to the latest.
On AMD cards however… teaching my non tech savy friend how to use DDU to roll back drivers because of timeout and crashing issues… not fun. Seems like every AMD driver release is one step forward two steps back. When they work it runs great. But when it doesn’t… total headache.
DLSS and RT aside, to me personally and to those that are new to PC gaming, Nvidia is just more stable and easier to recommend. And that to me is more important than fps per dollar, or upscaling/raytracing.

Some software like DaVinci resolve benefit hugely from nvidia engines and cuda cores. Not everything is for gaming. Also some intel and apple chips can decode some video codecs natively while amd cant.

Every time I upgrade my graphics card I say to myself “okay I will do research and look what I want in the budget I have” and almost always I find myself with an Nvidia card…
The last time I had a “team red” graphics card was a “Raedon” that had the incredible selling point that had DX10 support, that paired with an AMD athlon 62 X2 was enough for the rig at that time to play whatever I wanted without much problem… Except Far Cry 2 but well that game was a beast eating resources hahaha but then I changed to Nvidia and Intel basically because at the time AMD was equivalent of buying a grill instead of a pc component and those brands having more demand on my local market had better prices. Now Nvidia have me with DLSS, Frame Generation and better Ray Tracing (and path tracing). I don’t doubt AMD has good products, but for me are more about brute force (Rasterization, FPS per buck, etc) as opposed to Nvidia’s approach to different technologies in a card (making it expensive). For a tight budget or a just competitive setup I recommend AMD all the way, but if budget is not a problem and you want just more visual quality or fidelity, I need to say go Nvidia… I can’t recommend the “entry” or “budget” options of Nvidia as I feel like you pay more for less performance unlike in AMD and the “technologies” are not as good or worthy implemented to justify the price. I don’t think Ray Tracing in a 3050 or 4060 is a good idea, I feel like you start to get the best of Nvidia at the 4070TI or super and beyond, but before that point you are better at AMD’s territory. But at the end I just wrote a wall of text about a subjective point of view.

If you mean GPU… no shot. If they want to aim for mid tier performance the only option I have is to go with their competition
