8gb of ram and an ssd could make those usable for desktop tasks and stuff, but you are right, first gen i5s and i7s are long in the tooth, much more than like 2nd and 3rd.

Is this one of those old 32-bit systems that cant address more than 3.25GB? And for the GPU, I guess they just flatout refuse to install the driver because “Look, it works, doesnt it?”

I just upgraded our work pc with my old Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 which wasn’t even fast when overclocking to 3Ghz.
Since it’s worth approx 5 bucks, i decided to donate it.
In the end, I also have to use this system, so it’s definitely worth it.
Faster than the shitty Intel Pentium that was in there previously.
The IT managment gave me another stick of RAM so it at least has now 10GB of glorious DDR3 1333Mhz.
With all the crapware in autorun, it hogged about 80% of the 6GB total memory after boot in IDLE already.

our school PCs were from the 90s all because they had some software that they didnt have the cd key for, also main PCs were with Pentium 4 and 2GB ram shared to 8 clients 🙃
