First time building my PC was done with blood, sweat, and tears.
    – sweat from building it over 8 hours in the hot weather
    – tears from it not posting and later finding out my Mobo needed a bios update to post with my CPU
    – blood from slicing my finger open on the fucking back plate

What motherboards still come with a removeable I/O shield?

I don’t get it Iv only built two PCs so far but the back plate was like the easiest part your just setting it down and lining stuff up…

I’m glad mobos now usual come with the IO shield already attached. I remember cutting myself on those fucking things years ago. Why did they have to be as sharp as razor blades?

Thats a cheese grater, not an I/O shield

lol whoever designed that is a mother fucker

Who knows the pain of screwing the motherboard in, only to find that finger-grater lying on the couch?

Time to unscrew 7 screws I guess.

Blood sacrifice is required to sanctify the build.

When I built my most recent PC I forgot to put it in for some reason. I discovered when I was almost done. Had to take the mobo back out and redo some cablework. I hate that little plate.

never put the shield in. it’s actually convenient seeing the ports when im plugging smth in the back

Gawd, popping the old one out was as bad if not worse than installing. Damn thing would get surface adhesion.

I’ve only installed and uninstalled one of those once for a m5a97 le r2.0 and fx-6300 combo. That was my almost no budget 2017 gaming build that carried me to 2022. Never hurt myself with it. I’ve however managed to jam things under finger nails more then once trying to move another part around.

Still glad my b450 mobo has one built in at least.

So just do what I do and forget to install it then decide it ain’t worth the hassle to fix it
