Keep the second monitor, the point of two monitors is productivity

Keep the second one. You can mount it vertically if you want to save a bit more space
shrikelet
Well, for one thing you can have other stuff open on the second monitor while you’re running games full-screen on your main. Spotify, Discord, OBS, the list goes on…
blenderbender44
Depends on what you’re doing? Second monitor is good for running a tutorial on one screen, and whatever software you’re working on the other.

Keep the second monitor, why? its for utility

2 is the bare minimum number of monitors you should have with a Desktop PC, and I will not accept other people’s opinions on this matter.

Its nice for when youre full screening say a movie or game, but maybe want to use a browser on the side, stay in touch on discord, monitor a download, maybe even play a game while someone else watches netflix. Im sure youll find a use

the old you could rotate and is better to read

Move windows between the two monitors and notice the difference between 60hz and 144 hz. It’s humbling.
BTW: 2nd monitor is nice for game maps or guides while having the game in the primary monitor.

Man I’ll tell you, at first I was kind of thoughtless on the second monitor too but when it’s really useful once, and then twice, and then you get used to it being there, it just becomes essential.
Me personally, when the boys get together for a game night with drinking challenges/games, those webcams turn on and that second monitor is where the fun’s at, lookin at those drunken bastards’ faces is way more fun that the game on the main monitor.
And then there’s the productivity since I was in college and the gaming with the useful tutorials, guides, recipe/crafting list, etc or just having something on during slower paced games, it’s just really useful. Buying a second monitor without feeling the need would make no sense, now, since you already have it, I think you’ll really get the feel for it and never want to go back, that’s how they got me at least XD

I have two monitors, one high performance gaming, the other just a random cheap monitor I found. Monitor one obviously runs all my games, movies, whatever I want it to do. The second monitor I keep for having discord/spotify/steam up while the game is running on monitor 1.

If you can’t think of why you should have 2 monitors, sell the old one. Then when you do think of a reason for it, you can rightfully kick yourself for asking in the first place lol. Discord, Spotify, side YouTube videos, stats for a stat heavy game. Kinda funny lol
mlnm_falcon
Second monitors are great, I have two plus an optional laptop at home and 5 total at work (although spread over two computers and one is a laptop screen)

Get a bigger table and move the hood monitor to the middle
LukeGammoneese28
I feel like first you shouldve bought a 165hz as its about the same price and sometimes cheaper and could feel better [in my opinion]
And yeah I don’t think it’s a bad idea for 2 Monitors on the table as multitasking would be easier depending on who you are
wotanismos
yes keep it two monitors is the way and you will never want to be a single monitor beta again

Having 2 screens is fantastic. I ran a 144/60 for a bit. Be aware there were some issues with this where the 60 could interfere with some games going over 60. I think something if you had a video playing on the 60 hz monitor it could mess up a game. It was rare, but I recall people mentioning that.
I like to keep a random twitch stream open. But Im getting older and my memory is ass so I also keep an excel sheet open with tabs for games im playing to put notes. What sections of the Elden Map i did already. Reminders on which NPC I interacted with last, etc.
Elden Ring is a standard game where if you click out of the game, the controller will stop working. Some games you can still interact with other windows like Street Fighter 6. I can play on pad while chatting with keyboard in discord without need to alt-tab.

Keep the second one.
For ergonomics, place the new one straight on in front and the old one next to it and off to one side since it will be used less. If you find yourself using both monitors equally, then move them so they split the middle.

You can have spotify, discord etc open on the second monitor. Keep it

Well, first what do you think?

I mean, the real question is why NOT keep the second monitor? Lol

I have that same 144hz monitor, good choice!

Yea so you can watch a movies while you are on the internet

Yes obviously keep it… why wouldn’t u? Unless u are used to single monitor only and don’t like tinkering on a second screen. More power to u 🙂 good luck have fun
RipleyVanDalen
I’ve never understood the 144hz hype. 60 has always felt fast enough for me.
That said, keep the monitor if you were to use it for work/productivity reasons. But I think single monitor is fine for a gaming/non-work PC.
MrMakerHasLigma
good for if you wanna play a game and watch something at the same time, e.g if the game is slow or what you are watching is slow (like the england football team)
also good for many other niche things e.g speedrunners use additional monitors to look at notes for their run, streamers can have chat open on it etc

Imo you should place on monitor directly in front of your default sitting orientation and the other angled to the side if you plan on using this setup for gaming or single monitor focused productivity to prevent neck strain over time.

If you use your computer for more than just gaming, there are pretty much infinite uses for the extra screen real estate. At work, I have 4 monitors and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Multiple monitors is one of the best ways to increase your own productivity or make tasks easier.
