Nintendo says it wants to avoid Switch 2 scalping by making enough to meet demand

But if they had called it switch u, it would be different

  2. I don’t think they know how scalpers work. As SOON as they are made available for pre-order those bots they’ve set up will immediate take them

You give pre-release “dibs” to people with good standing Nintendo accounts first. Let the people that actually give you all money first crack at getting the new one and you’ll cut down demand significantly.

You make 100, scalpers will try and buy 100

You make 1000, scalpers will try and buy 1000

You make 10000, scalpers will try and buy 10000

And so on and so on.

The whole point of scalping is to buy up the vast majority of the units, falsifying scarcity. Only real way to beat them is for Nintendo to directly sell them with only one purchase per credit card/debit card linked to an address. Not overly practical for them and even if they did this, its still not full proof.

There is another way of course, but saying this would be like talking to a wall for all the good it will do.

  5. They could make over 50 million units and those Filthy Greedy Bastard Scalpers would find a way to buy over 50 boxes of the consoles to sell away online!

Yea and 1 scalper will buy like 500 of them

This thing is going to be sold out for months. I know I’m gonna line up for my pre order whenever it is.

Took me until last year to get a PS5 since it was so hard to get one.

Scalpers in my area are too chickenshit to meet anywhere but the police station. The irony of their fear of being ripped off is always amusing.

Sending them on snipe hunts to said police station when I had no intention of meeting with them and spending $700 on a console that sat next to a water heater for six months, that was even more amusing.

Only sell them direct from Nintendo for at least the first three months. One per address.

  11. Its inevitable and will be scalped to death. Lego, sneakers, concert tickets, game, everything really. And those are the things that concerned me, im sure there are many things that are scalped as well. It sucks.

Make a large amount and sell them for $900

Once they sell out drop the price on the other half to $400 to fuck the scalpers

I think the trick will be to release them in waves so that stores can restock a large supply every week. Maybe the first week or 2 will have scalpers, but constantly putting out stock would help a lot. Putting out a lot as well, not just 10 units at a time would help. Its also then on stores to limit sales. 1 per person to avoid problems.

Please don’t actually be called Switch 2

Or they could just do what valve does

If people would just be patient and not buy one from anyone but known retailers the 1st few months , it’d stop the bullshit. Let the scalpers sit on them and feel the greed backfire.

Make it so you can only buy it in the nintendo shop and have it mailed to you like steam does. I think that’s really the only way.

What they need to do is limit it to 2 per household, at least to start. Scalpers have the money and if you give them the ability to buy 50+ units, they are going to outpace the market every time.

Amazon resellers already fucked me over with the ps5, it wont happen again
