They weren't this aggressive on Nacht, were they?

On Nacht Der Untoten zombies couldn't attack you while you were moving or on the other side of a barrier. In their second outing Zielisnki and his team aimed to empower both the player and the zombies, introducing perks and amping up the zombies' aggression. I think these two changes were intended to coincide with eachother within the lore.

Among the four perks we got in Verrückt was Speed Cola, a direct reference to the Nazis juicing up their own soldiers on meth. "Speed" being a slang term for meth and the characters referencing side effects of doing meth after drinking Speed Cola like shakes, shivers, jitters, and twitches. Richtofen even says on Kino that the active ingredient in Speed Cola rots your mind. This was confirmed retroactively by Cold War zombies where Speed Cola's ingredient list is shown to include liquid meth.

So you have Verrückt, a testing site for these perks where the machines line the floorplan. Would it be a stretch to assume these perk machines were designed for recreational use by the Verrückt staff? If they were drinking Speed Cola before they turned it might explain the Verrück zombies' unusually high aggression.

TL;DR – Zombies on Verrückt run faster and can attack through barriers because they were getting hopped up on Speed Cola before they died.

I’m pretty sure it was said it was a glitch that the developers didn’t want to correct.

people forget how cool it was playing this map on release. The new animations and oppressive atmosphere are still the best this game mode ever realized, even if the map was small and the mechanics were primitive. This will always be my all time favorite map.

    That’s not a theory that’s a fact.

Okay so a little before WW2 a lot of Germans were sucking down this stuff called Previten. Basically, it looks like a mint but it’s a little meth tablet. The whole population was on it, except Hitler who wanted to appear as completely straight edge (no alcohol, Previten, or anything besides a tremendous about of B12 and other vitamins injected by his doctor).

But all of the soldiers and generals were on meth. That’s part of what made the Blitzkrieg so effective at first. The generals were marching faster than Berlin could keep up with. So, historically speaking, there is a very, very high chance that those zombies were on meth during some point in their life. If you’d like to learn more I highly recommend the book Blitzed by Norman Ohler.

Another fun fact, that same meth technology was later adopted in the 50’s by an American food company who took those meth pills, covered them in chocolate, and marketed them a fun, healthy way to lose weight for women.

This would actually be true. Hitler in an effort to invade used something called a blitz tactic he gave the soldier some kind of special pills to give soldiers energy turns out this was meth it powered them to invade nearly all of Europe.
