Back then games were not seen as some cashgrab thing so they wanted to make them good and enjoayble experience.
Today money is priority so everything else takes backseat. They’ll stop once people stop buying dumb games (so, probably never).

Even back then EA was seen as villain. They have done so many things wrong that laundry list is sooooo long. But sense that they are bad for gaming industry was present then as well. Not like today, mind you.

EA was the publisher, not the developer. It’s like praising Harvey Weinstein because you like the films of Quentin Tarantino
Kotschcus_Domesticus
EA was villain even back then. They closed down Westwood studios in 2003, Bulfrog games in 2001 and Origin in 2004. NFS Underground is no redemption arc for them.

Sorry to break it to you, but EA has always been total trash. The good games they released were by acquired studios that made quality stuff in spite of EA.

Thanks to Dolphin this is my main mobile gaming experience.
I own a gamecube and I own the game. Nintendo and EA can go eat/drink a whole latrine pit if they disagree with the way I’m playing this game.

Man I’d sell my left leg for a remake of NFSU2. I played the shit out of it back when it came out.

And all their new games are locked behind EA Play, so I’m not buying any of their games. I made the mistake once with Titanfall, never again.

I still love this game after 20 years…

I used to play NFS to unlock hot chick magazine cover.

EA has never been “good”, they have always been a voracious pitt of bought IP. A cannibal with an ever growing suite of skinsuits to wear. They don’t create anything new, they circle in the sky like vultures waiting for a dev studio to make something great, and then they buy them and churn out endless sequels.
Potw0rek
EA was always bad, all their games were always mediocre at best. It’s us, the players, we were too young and too stupid to realize it back then. Now the story continues with younger generation.
desertrijst
Why?…Because it was in the game.
vitalsyntax
Stop giving EA credit, they don’t do shit, they are just the publisher.
Crimson_Blitz
It’s the same thing with Blizzard. They were making bangers after bangers before, but look at their games now. OW 2 is dead, D4 currently sucks, Starcraft is dead, WoW is just a shell of its former self, etc.
Conserp
EA was already rolling downhill for a while at this point, just not far enough yet.
NFS:U were poorly ported console peasant NFS games already.
Chainmale001
EA WAS NEVER GOOD.
RIP GAMESTORM.

Maybe it was the developers? Sounds crazy right?
