I was given this pc for free. I don’t know much about pc tech. Not sure what I’m working with here. Hopefully these pictures show enough. Just wanted some insight on what I got here. What type of games can it play. And can I even upgrade this at all?
And yes I know it’s dusty as hell lol. This how it was given to me. I will try my best to clean it when I hook it all up.

cant tell much but my guess is pretty old system.
probably 10 years old. based on the red and blue of the items. that was more popular long time ago. intel i7 4770 era had a lot of anodized blue.
Free is free, no point in upgrading tho, this is just too old.
If you can fire it up and get hwinfo in there you’ll get some insight on the actual components

Looks like an Asus motherboard with socket 1155. They had those blue VRM heatsinks. That would mean an Intel 2000 or 3000 series CPU under there, from 2011-2012. Cooler is a Cooler Master 212 Plus, a very popular budget cooler at the time, and the RAM looks like DDR3 from that era as well.
SSD is obviously a 128GB SATA, which was common back then to pair with a larger slow HDD
Graphics card could be a GeForce GTX 660, based on the age and that it has a short PCB
If it works it works, but it won’t run modern games well, and it’s not gonna be upgraded unless you basically tear everything out and get a modern system in the old case

Free is free! Should run games from around 10 years ago well enough, and modern ones that aren’t at all demanding. Will be fine for browsing etc too.
From looking at top comment, if it really has these spec, it can make a good low end pc (depending on what series it is because Intel Pentium, celeron and i3 won’t run anything well or at all while I5 and I7 are usable). And gtx 660 isn’t total waste too (it is equal to RX 560)
it will be able to run non-demanding/older games like Roblox, garrysmod or WoT on mid settings 1080p but forget about demanding/post 2020 games (aka zero optimization era)
People underestimate what old hardware can do
My relative run A10-5800K, R5 340X and 12GB Ram and they say they are fine with it
Probably 2nd or 3rd gen Intel with GTX6 or 7 series, like GTX660 or GTX760.
Install Windows first and see what the spec is.
Depends on the games you want to play how useful it’ll be.
Upgrade to an i7 and 16GB of ram to start would cost barely anything, I know here 3rd gen i7 sells for about €15.
That would allow you to play more or less anything to a reasonable degree despite the age.
Then you could decide whether a 2nd hand card upgrade for pretty small money would be worth it.

First thing is first, throw out that Adata SSD. They are unreliable e-waste. Throw in a Timetec/Samsung or your brand of choice.

How are we supposed to know?
Plug it in, power on, find it out with HWInfo etc.
A slight GPU upgrade and its ready to go. You can bump into it like a GTX 1070 or RX 580 8GB version and it’ll run games such as Cyberpunk 2077 (look up benchmarks – it runs very well with those components) on 1080p ultra and 30fps. You could always just lower the settings for better performance
(From other comments I read it has i7 3770k so only make a decision once you determine what CPU it is. If its one of the previous gens like 2nd you can always invest in Xeons which are also good)
Old. Those memory/RAM heatsinks are DDR3. I would turn this pc into a wireless router that consumes too much power.

looks like some ripsaw ddr3 ram. so probs lay somewhere between 2012 and 2016 build
Am I the only triggered by the back fan not being exhaust? Just going to be fighting the CPU cooler.

If the PC boots into an OS, you might be able to look at the system info to see what the specs are. Give the details, and someone can point you to the games you can play
