Okay, so everyone knows who Adam Smasher is, and everyone knows who MaxTac are, but my question is, as both Smasher and MaxTac are considered the best of the best in their respective fields, who would prevail, a fully stacked MaxTac unit, or a fully stacked Adam Smasher?

I get the impression Smasher has invested enough into his loadout to field several MaxTac units.

To me, MaxTac wasn’t event that elite in 2077, they seemed more like a little bit above NCPD just because they could deploy anywhere fast. I think Adam Smasher could easily take on 2 MaxTac units.
Maxtac in the Edgerunners anime called a code AS(Adam Smasher) and retreated from the field when he appeared. I believe that says all you need to know.
2077 Smasher is untouchable unless you add V into the mix. Even a spec’d out Melissa Rory doesn’t have the same bloodlust and killer instinct to take Smasher down.
Max tac wins in numbers, several units will eventually overpower him, how many it needs, hard to guess, but a single one Adam wipes the floor with.

i heard in the tabletop smasher is used to end the game but if he were just a boss like in other rpg like the beholder in D&D he would be beatable.
I had a thought, how do you think if Adem Smasher won and the end of the game is you cheating death, again. So the endings would be the same as Arasaka want to keep tabs on soul killer and would throw V into the same bath as they also wanted to.. Well keep soul killer intact?
It would keep AS a beast instead of ruining him to be a bit of a joke
The NCPD, thereunder MaxTac are likely so corrupt they wouldn’t dream of interfering with whatever Smasher is doing.
If anything, they’d let Arasaka clean house, internally IMO.
Smasher until he is eventually overrun by their numbers, they’re the closest thing to full military grade cyborgs that NC can allow themselves.
Maxtac wouldn’t interfere with Smasher either way since he is Arasaka bound, they just get rid of really out of control cyberpsychos.
They use M179 Achilles rail rifles in the anime, if that’s their standard gear then they could easily pierce through smasher’s armor as a unit, but you’d need more than just one to do the job, you’d need a unit pulling aggro, a netrunner team pushing through his ICE, maybe an AV with cover fire to overwhelm him enough.
At the end of the day he’s just human.
I solo’d Adam Smasher. I can go 1v2 against MaxTac. But MaxTac sends like 5 agents. I got absolutely greased trying to 1v5 MaxTac. Adam Smasher would never be 1v1 with MaxTac, I doubt he could take a whole squad.
Against one unit of 3-4 guys, definitely.
That being said, MaxTac is still a bunch of chromed up veterans. The guys in MaxTac aren’t just fleshy cannon fodder, they’ve got Military grade chrome, combat experience, and some badass gear.
I akin them to a military version of Special Forces.
If we were to judge in-game Adam Smasher vs in-game MaxTac unit then MaxTac would definitely win, but that is because Adam Smasher in the game totally sucks.
If we were to take lore accurate Adam Smasher then there is just no way MaxTac would win.
Why?
In-game Adam Smasher can literally be quickhacked, his attacks are easily dodgeable even without advanced cyberware.. the fight is less about difficulty and more about how long it takes tbh.
But lore accurate Adam Smasher? Quickhacks are out of question, which is what MaxTac pretty heavily depends on.
With weaker cyberpsychos it’s just pure strength but with someone like AS, quickhacks are crucial so without them they’re screwed. Their guns just won’t do anything, neither will their grenades. He is basically walking tank, they would actually need to bring rocket launchers or heavy military machinery.
By themselves though? They stand no chance.
Tabletop game shows this the best. When AS appears it’s not how we defeat him but how do we run away without dying :))
Maxtac, they’ve got tonnnns of people meanwhile Smasher can’t duplicate
And you can kill Adam with a Crowbar, at least I did so in my Gordon run.

A lot of Max-tac squads got wiped the fuck out by David Martinez. David Martinez got wiped the fuck out by Smasher
So yeah, a single Max-Tac squad wouldn’t do shit against him

To go against the grain, if MaxTac had to step in and fight Smasher that likely would mean he went rogue from Arasaka meaning they would want him gone too. I just dont see anybody surviving long with both those parties going full force. At that point would they just nuke him or something?
But in a hypothetical situation where hes fighting a single maxtac squad for no reason he would annihilate them
