The Embracer Group is a cancer in the video game industry… Hoping the staff at Pieces Interactive land on their feet, but this still fucking sucks.

Another casualty on embracers road to offing themselves

It probably was inevitable but Alone in the Dark 2024 deserved more attention.

It’s frustrating when companies go on huge shopping sprees, buy more studios than they can sustain, and then start shutting them down. Such a waste of capital and creative talent.

RIP Pieces Interactive 🪦

The writing was on the wall after the reboot flopped, but Embracer could have given it another chance to work on a new project/game. It is a shame to see them close down.

Embrace the kiss of death.

Such a great game. This is so disappointing. Few games click with me the way this one did. Perfect rhythm of laid back quasi-metroidvania exploration with creepy vibes and detective stuff balanced with more linear combat sections. I enjoyed this far more than any of the RE games. It is literally the only game I’ve ever started over right after finishing it because of the cool NG+ feature and second character.
MatrixBunny
To be expected.
The game kinda flopped. It was supposed to kickstart the series again.

I can’t believe I once supported Embracer saving THQ.

Everyone is gonna blame embracer but in reality this game just flopped

It’s gotta be terrifying to work in video games. If you make a mistake, you’re done. And if you don’t make a mistake, there’s still a good chance you’re done
Brown_Dean1
5 games over the course of 11 years, most of them being smaller arcade style games, and they get shutdown after their first bigger budget game? Sends a fantastic message to the gaming community, both studios and players. “If this doesn’t make use money, people are losing their jobs and players aren’t getting more games.”

Obligatory “fuck Embracer” comment.

And they continue to be an embarrassment to the industry.

Should’ve took that arab money

And the dumb fat fucking pig CEO gets to keep his job even though he’s proven he’s the worst CEO in all of history.
Literally could have fired him and kept all their salaries but, nah capitalism is great.

Another topic in which everyone will complain about Embracer, pretending these studios would otherwise be sustainable for some reason. If they hadn’t funded them, they would have closed years ago.
Yeah, it still sucks for the people working there of course. And certainly Embracer has fucked up in their strategy. But I’d bet most of these studios they closed would have done so years ago without Embracer.
DizzyTelevision09
This was just a matter of time, Embracer is on a speedrun to destroy the entire gaming industry.

Tsk Tsk, to pieces you say?
MidnightForge
I really feel for the devs on this one. Damn shame
