I have a Windows gaming PC I turn on a few hours a month (seems to be getting less and less as I get older), but otherwise for day to day usage I have a M1 Mac mini that sips like 8W from the wall.
If I were to sell it now I’d lose ehh USD270 for three years of use, that’s not too bad eh? In terms of electricity saved 50watts * 16 hours a day for three years I’ve saved USD210, so net net it cost me sixty bucks. Fantastic value IMO.
I wish I got 16gb of ram though even with the blatant highway robbery, but at the time I didn’t think I’d fall in love with it lol.

I’m very satisfied with the Apple ecosystem, because it gives me comfort and reliability.
I dislike Windows. Seen a lots of arguments that Apple products are overpriced, but also Linux is only free if your free time has no value.
Maybe you shouldn’t be biased against something you don’t understand.

Ok, so I have a hot take on this. I have a usb flash drive and I needed to move files from my pc- which is a gaming laptop. I have the spec manual, and I saw that the usb c port I was using for the drive was usb 3.1 gen 2, and I looked up the specs of my drive and saw that it was also usb 3.1 gen 2 so I should get good read/write speeds. A 4gb file took over 20 minutes to transfer to the drive. And I was like, that’s almost slow enough to half the time of usb 2.0 what gives? Did the drive manufacturer lie about the product? Did Lenovo lie about the thunderbolt ports in the spec manual? Well I got a wild hair up my ass. So I transferred a similarly sized file using my Mac. The file transferred in under a minute. I was flabbergasted. Also, you shouldn’t rag on apple for the products they sell- look at it this way, apple’s strongest ability is quality control; yes they sometimes put out a poorly engineered product like a bendable iPhone that flexes in small movements that break components on the logic board. Or the failing graphics cables running through the hinges of their laptops. The thing is when you buy an apple you buy a product that has the ability to last long and be reliable. Also I believe there is a version of Debian built for apple silicon, so if you want to use that avenue to have a different os on your Mac.

I use all 3 daily… Use each OSes strengths and work around their weaknesses, instead of just hating. It’s not like Windows is a be all end all OS.
