Pretty sure he just wants to look like that. And yes it’s possible to hack him but very very hard so quck hacking for anyone other then v probably wouldn’t work.
I think that’s how Smasher looks in Cyber Space. Which is fitting since he appears as a demon. As for the hacking, quick hacks work against him in game but not in the anime.
in cyberpspace you can look however the hell you please. about hacking him, that boy for sure have hell of a black ICE, it’s borderline impossible to hack him, expecially with quickhacks. anyway, V could do that somehow
Quickhacks only work on smasher if you are a netrunner/hacking god with some of the best tech there is, if you aren’t then it’s not really going to work..
It could be a visual representation of Black ICE, seeing that when her hack failed, it fried her cyber deck, and black ice, doing a similar thing to what is represented. Probably just a thing to make it look cooler, and to make Adam Smasher seem that much more intimidating (couldn’t think of a better word)
V being able to hack him with Quick hacks is just purely for gameplay. It would suck to not be able to beat him after playing the entire gale as a netrunner lol
Something to think about in the world of CP77 and Edgerunners is that, by this time, there have been multiple corporate wars. If netrunners were an overstated presence on the battlefield, that is they could neutralize any target, then a lot of time, energy, and money would be spent on finding ways to prevent netrunner dominance.
Something that distinguishes Smasher from these mercs is that he has both been in the corporate wars and is the beneficiary of all of the learnings therein. It is absolutely possible that he has military grade tech that Lucy has never even seen.
Smasher is already a monster cyberpsycho. Add to that the very best in bleeding edge Arasaka ICE, etc.
It’s the same in the the videogame. His ICE eventually blocks any netrunner attacks from what I’ve heard

He looks like that through cyberspace and he still can be hacked, what this is is a piece of cyberware he has( I forget what it’s called at the moment) that traces and counter hacks or out right cancels said hack anyone would try to do.( he can also do this in game after the update) this applies I believe to runners that aren’t skilled enough to hack through him or if said quickhack isn’t strong enough. That’s just the way they chose to make him look, and dude probably has insane self ice or something that’s why a mid netrunner like Lucy couldn’t break it and hack him, better netrunners like for example 20 int V and probably Songbird too could bypass it and hack smasher though
V isn’t cannon yet, but Smasher is almost impossible to hack at TT. Edgerunners did Smasher right while Cyberpunk kinda meh with Smasher.
