My motherboard fried on Monday so I ordered some new stuff for a build, super excited when it all showed up. Started putting it together only to discover the cpu I got had been returned at some point and was just a piece of clay wrapped in a paper towel.

thats what you get for buying an i9 and not having an 4090
4070ti super is i5 or i7 life.
Amazon?
Put in a complaint if you can and see if you can get your money back.
Get your money back and buy yourself a 7800x3d, i9 is a joke
Return everything and get a 7800X3D better temps and future upgrades. It’s a shitty practice that people do to get free stuff basically but just return everything and go with AM5
Dang
that sucks
surprisingly.. this doesn’t happen in developing countries because they check the product’s condition during the return pickup and your refund is not processed until the return is completed!
Parroting what others have said, unless you’re heavy into productivity, i9 is not the way. AM5 platform has a solid upgrade path and 7800X3D is gaming performance king at drastically lower power (IE far less heat load).
I hope you can get your money back. That sucks. 🙏🏻
NEVER buy used parts or PC parts or anything electronic from non-professionnal people.
Return the i9, get an i7 14700K(F) and if you want to, replace the 4070 ti super with a 4080 super
The company you bought it from should’ve checked the returns, but it is cheaper to just put them back in the shelves for someone else to buy. Eventually, people stop returning it. Or they throw it out.
Should be thankful to the scammer, saved you from having to deal with a 14900K.
I just dont have it in me to do anything like this to another person, especially with PCs. Its fucking evil.

That’s why for certain things, like PC parts, I only order new, it may be a tad more expensive but I don’t have to deal with bullshit.
Augh. Sons of bitches
Just contact Amazon get a refund move on.
kid named trash
always film the unboxing saves you arguments later on when returning.
Is that… Cheese?!
It literally says unlocked /s
Refund it and go AMD 😉
So basically we always get used items when we buy new on amazon?
People suck. Thanks for the heads up. I will not be ordering cpus from Amazon.
