In Black Ops 4, everything; including Chaos, was banished into the Dark Aether. That's why we see Alistair Rhodes being mentioned in Vanguard.

And in Vanguard, it's confirmed the Dark Aether Elder Gods (Kortifex, Saraxis, Norticus, Inviktor, Bellekar, excluding Vercanna) actively deceived humans into thinking they were various mythological deities, such as:

  • Osiris (Kortifex)
  • Kitsunetsuki (Saraxis)
  • Ymir (Norticus)
  • Ares/Achilles (Inviktor)
  • Bellekar was worshipped by the Mayans, aldo it's not specified who she was posing as — my best guess would be ‘Itzamná,’ Mayan goddess of ‘‘wisdom and teaching.’’

So, my point is; what if Chaos' Gods were also entities posing as Danu, Ra, Zeus, and Odin?
Vanguard's Dark Aether Crystals also look awfully similar to the ones we see in Chaos.

Perhaps Prima Materia was a primitive rendition of the Dark Aether Elder Gods' ‘Artifacts.’ As we know Prima Materia corrupted whoever used it.
Intensifying greed, benevolence, violence, neglect, etc..
Such behavior could've been caused by an entity's manipulation of its host.

So, when the universe collapsed, all those malevolent entities got moved to the Dark Aether; creating the ‘Dark Aether Elder Gods’ we know today..

Oh yeah, one more thing.. in Shi no Numa Reborn we literally reconstruct a Sentinel Artifact..

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Good post, glad to see someone bring this topic up! On the topic of Prima Materia, I’ve thought for a while that it could be some primordial version of Aetherium, possibly in its rawest state. Both elements seem capable of transforming into basically anything; the Dark Aether has a genetic memory and is basically able to “clone” just about anything once it makes contact. And mythologically speaking, [Prima Materia is literally just “raw matter” that can be transformed into whatever one desires](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prima_materia).
