Id say irl we’d be in a sort or pre cyberpunk world. We do have some rudimentary cybernetics but they arent very advanced, smooth, or dynamic enough…..yet.
We do have advances in robotics and drones which are admittedly getting scary, as well as AI.
Who knows whatll happen in the next 10 – 20 years. Kinda excited, but more scared based on human idiocy around the world.

The only missing element is the body modification but the notorious bandit El Onmusk is experimenting on ~~victims~~ patients as we speak

I feel like traditional cyberpunk characters were more loners and outsiders, rather than any modern interpretation of the word “marginalised”.
