I've been playing with an idea That these little dudes came to the earth peacefuly. And were the reason of fast technological advancement and creation if cyberwere.
Obviously corpos took advantage of them and immediately militarized it, and now our little alien friends are oppresed race who lost all their heritage and culture, living in a slums with the rest of low lives.
Could make a nice base for a story I think 🤔

Not really, because cyberpunk is essentially about the foreclosure of possibility, and about humanity trying desperately to retain some sense of itself as it makes the conditions that constantly reduce our humanity and ability to connect to others even worse, IMO. It’s about being trapped within our own impulses and desires as mediated by the larger alien forces—not alien in the sense of extraterrestrial, but AIs, the incessant drive for profit making corporations into militarized fiefdoms, and the need to dehumanize yourself via cybernetic implants, as ways in which human connections and meaningful human societies are being degraded.
Alien Aliens represent a true new beam of light, a possibility, be it positive or negative, of something NEW happening. Cyberpunk says “you know all the problems we have now? Here’s how they keep going as we become more and more technologically capable”. It’s why cyberpunk settings all still have homeless people, exploited workers, imperious corporate systems and no governmental institutions worth a damn.
Art is alright, but conceptually it’s out of the wheelhouse for what’s going on with cyberpunk as a milieu.
