You know how you can equip the most powerful cybernetic weapons into your body in this game. Not just you literally everyone can only if they can handle it. To have such powerful weapons in your body you have to take parts of your body out. Well some times people need or want to take such cyberware out, whether it be cyberpsychosis or just don’t want them anymore. You have either missing limbs or missing chunks out of your body I know they don’t keep missing parts in case you want them back in. So what do they do? V wouldn’t have a floppy skin arm wiggling around after taking out is mantis blades. Or what if a maelstrom member wants to be normal again and have PTSD from the cyberware and wants to avoid any cyberware are they just screwed? What if you need the cyberware out for health risk like at the end of the game for V or to just avoid cyberpsychosis. Surely there is a way to have organic limbs right or organic parts back right or how else are going avoid health risk from it and not be in their original state. There has to be some in game or lore description… right?

  1. This is talked about in the Cyberpunk Red core rulebook.

The gist is that a hospital can clone replacement parts from your own tissue to be a complete replacement for the missing parts or you can get a piece of medical-grade cyberware.

In Cyberpunk Red, they make the distinction between cyberware that goes beyond human capabilities and medical-grade cyberware which replicates what a normal human is capable of. The former contributes to humanity loss and cyberpsychosis. The latter does not.

Cloning was developed enough 57 years earlier to have on-demand replacement limbs, organs, and tissue grown. By 32 years earlier, this process was so refined that it could cost less than a fancy mixed drink.

Then, of course, there’s medical grade ware, which is close enough to bioidentical to not agitate the nervous system and the like.

So in Cyberpunk there’s three types of “ware” used for humans: Cyberware, Bioware and Nanoware. Cyberware is the most visible and gives the you the most power for your application, but at the cost of damaging your mental state due to stress and your body naturally rejecting the metal.

The second most common is bioware, which is either super-organs or gene-therapy that augments your body in various ways. In a city/access to modern technology you can have a vat limb grown that will be Genetically compatible with your body for like 50 Eurodollars (well 50 in 2045, probably a bit higher in 2077).

Think of V’s ending in Phantom Liberty. You can be a pseduo-Borg with very little meat left, but the FIA is still able to clone/repair your body back to its original state.

    > going avoid health risk from it and not be in their original state.

RED’S explanation is that there’s medical cyberware that is basically more advanced modern day prosthetics. You’re not going to be able to punch a hole through concrete with them, but they function identically to an organic limb and they aren’t stressful enough to cause a hit to your humanity unlike military or exotic cyberware.

I assume they just take your DNA & grow you a new appendage, similar to Biotechnica growing synthetic meat.

All of my playthroughs I left the arm cyberware slot empty cause I’m scared for V lol
