Nvidia’s grasp of desktop GPU market balloons to 88%. AMD has just 12%.

Not surprising after AMD’s quarterly report that they’re down 48% YOY in their gaming sector, which accounts for both discrete GPUs and SOCs in consoles.

Damn, guess people really can tell the difference between FSR and DLSS, do care about ray tracing performance, think AI-generated frames are fine, and aren’t concerned if a card has less than 16gb of VRAM

Lines up with the data from the Steam survey

I might switch if they sort out their path tracing performance.

AMD preachers are like those Linux psychos that tell you to switch from Windows everywhere they can. I’ll keep using things that I find most comfortable and user friendly, thanks for your concern

Wild, i dont know a single person with a nvidia card lol

Well, I like RT and DLSS, and AMD didn’t have a competitor to the 4090. I want to support the underdog, but they’re the underdog for a reason. If performance and features were equal I would buy an AMD card in a heartbeat. I may even be willing to pay a (very) small premium for them, like I did for an RX 580 over a GTX 1060 when I first built a PC.

If AMD didn’t have crap ray tracing performance I would have bought AMD.

I’m not spending loads of money on a graphics card to not have the best graphics options available.

To think that the companies that are ruling the tech world today are Microsoft and nVidia. A combined value of $6 trillion US. Good think they didn’t listen to the internet.

But did the customers read Reddit telling them to get amd

    Not surprised.

I switched from Nvidia to AMD for last 2 cards. It was a matter of getting more performance at same price. That savings comes at a cost.

I need to be prepared to rollback drivers after every update. While this is true with Nvidia as well, I’ve found AMD to be more buggy more often.

RT is barely useable. With the rare exception of games that partner with AMD, most games cannot run full RT on AMD and maintain a comfortable frame rate.

Frame generation is nowhere near as good.

Are the AMD cards bad? I wouldn’t say that. But I’m experienced with customizing configurations to get things to work and I really shouldn’t have to with current technology. It is more than a casual user should have to deal with. Their marketing is almost nonexistent compared to Nvidia. Nvidia just more robust.

I’m really not sure if I’ll go back with next upgrade. Depends on pricing I suppose. But to be honest, if Nvidia were more competitive price wise at mid tier x060/70 cards, AMD would probably vanish from GPU market.

This is what happens when AMD decides to play stupid and compete price to price with Nvidia.

I like stability, I use DLSS, play RT games, and even simpler, I have to use CAD software so amd wasn’t even an option from the start

  16. Phoeptar

And they’ll continue to over charge for their hardware until that changes.

We need 2 more players to join tbh.
    This is crazy

I think Nvidia owns more patents when it comes to graphics card.
