Every set piece leaves me feeling like a badass. This is the closest game you’ll get to a John Wick / Die Hard video game. And Max’s monologues are all great. I’m loving the Sau Paulo section.

Max Payne 3 is a gem indeed. The gritty narrative and intense action make it stand out. Rockstar really nailed it with this one.

As a big fan of the series, I hated part 3 with a passion. To me, it didn’t feel like a Max Payne game. Gameplay wss more cover base. Story lack imagination. In part 2 he takes the fall and then in part 3 he takes the fall again? They could have come up with something better.

If you enjoyed Max Payne 3 like we all did, you should try Stranglehold. John Woo hardcore Hong Kong action movie gameplay that most likely inspired Remedy to make Max Payne games.

  4. Zactrick

3 is the worst in the trilogy. Best gameplay, everything else falls short of the first two. It doesn’t even feel like the max Payne brand, just look at the fucking image

  5. As a Max Payne game, it’s the worst of the 3.

On its own merit, it’s not a bad game, just don’t like the bald take on Max Payne.

I can’t even play it it keeps crashing on launch in steam

  7. HalJayGreene

What do you like abut it? Always been curious about it.

  8. LaserGadgets

I remember it had a few walking sequences, but the action was top notch!! Bullet time is awesome!

  9. aj_ramone

It is in no way underrated.

Underrated, gem, dae etc should be banned from this sub.

  10. Reaper-05

Rockstar’s most underrated game is Table Tennis

  11. EvanRichardsRealtor

Just played this one recently for the first time, very fun!

  12. Accurate-Rutabaga-57

Best shooting mechanics Rockstar ever had

  13. bluejester12

If this game is so awesome, why can’t I toss greandes like the first two? 😛

Seriously, I love this game, but that always bugged me.

  14. irohazakastrike

Had tons of fun with it back when it released, fun game!

    BUT

I am brazilian and this game has what is, in my opinion, the WORST brazilian portuguese dub ever! All the criminals spoke like a grammar teacher, with textbook pronunciation and a vocabulary that definitely is not even close to how criminals in São Paulo speak (regular people too, for that matter).

    It’s magnificent

One the most memorable games ive played.

  16. darealarusham

Not even close to being their most underrated title. Also this MP game gets some deserved hate. I won’t deny that it’s fun though, from what little i played of it.

  17. stevenbrotzel91

I would love to play this again but it’s no longer on the store for some reason

  18. A_Drunk_Duck

Rockstar’s most underrated title? I don’t know about that lol

  19. 69WaysToFuck

I don’t think it’s underrated sitting at 87 on Metacritic

  20. DevelopmentScary3844

I grew up with 1 + 2 and i remember that i was so dissapointed from 3.. there was no max payne left in this game. I pretty much hated it from start to whenever i uninstalled it after few hours.

  21. PuppeteerRemy

I love the game but the constant bright lights flashing when transitioning to another scene made me ill enough to puke

    Would play again / 10

The story was… alright. It didn’t have as good a narrative as the previous games.

But the gunplay is way, way better. They definitely crushed that aspect.

I played though all 3 again like a year ago or so and found the shooting way more fun in 3. It’s super solid. I’d love to replay the originals with 3’s gameplay.

  23. Frick_KD

It was a fun game but not a good Max Payne game. Completely missed the mark of what I loved about the series

  24. unattainablcoffee

Not underrated. It just so happens to come from the same place as GTA and Red Dead. Those titles leave little room for others to shine.

Max Payne, as a whole, is incredibly awesome!

  25. I was a big fan. It felt like the perfect marriage of the old games with more modern gameplay, presentation, and story.

If you ever wanted to feel like you’re playing a Tony Scott movie, look no further.

  26. mjreeves823

Aren’t there already John wick and die hard video games?

  27. Alundra828

While I agree it’s a fantastic game, I’ve tried to replay it a few times over the years, and every time I do I always find myself saying “oh my fucking god, just let me play the game”

It’s so broken up, and the shooting segments so short. I just want *more* game.

  28. Easily Rockstar’s best ever gunplay. It just felt right.

  29. some_guy554

It is not underrated at all. Everyone knows Max Payne. It was relevant for a long time after 3 came out. The slight dip in relevancy is because they haven’t released a new title in a while.

I wish the multiplayer wasn’t shut off I never got to try it and it looked interesting for a tacked on multiplayer
