Yeah, Maximum Mike pretty much confirmed this is how cyberpsychosis works in the Cyberpunk universe: a lack of humanity and the isolation from society makes people edge closer to cyberpsychosis. Think of Edgerunners—David was using the Sandevistan fine until more of his crew kept dying off and he kept getting traumatized.
It’s what makes Adam Smasher so unique. He doesn’t have much of a body *or* soul but he’s not a cyberpsycho—just an ordinary psycho.

I’m still convinced that the original plan for 2077’s story was meant to be centered around Cyberpsychosis.
Between the reveal trailer, all of the miscellaneous reading material, Regina’s Cyber Psycho mission that seemingly goes nowhere, and even the mental deterioration V goes through, all feels like it was originally meant to serve toward a larger narrative, and it’s a shame we never got to see that.

Yup. This is known, it’s just that 2077 doesn’t really parade it around much, only having a few text shards about it, that get buried under our interactions with Regina’s cyberpsycho quest. So a lot of people glance over it
But yeah this is more or less how it’s been described in the ttrpg, and it’s how Pondsmith writes about it when he clarified how cyberpsychosis works

There is also an interview Ziggy Q does with a researcher on cyberpsychosis, wherein he says that the way he sees it, there’s a combination of cyber ware and isolation. They outright link cyberpsychosis to mass shootings, saying it’s an evolution on them.
