When everything is more dark then people wont say much about how ugly it looks. But I do love this game, played the trilogy twice. And I was more concerned as to what comes out than what everything looks like.
There’s still plenty of good looking games with great art direction.

Look at those textures on the character model, whole thing looks straight out of PS3, and this is a cherrypicked image.
Look at some of the other screenshots of Dead Space (the 2008 original, not the 2023 re-release), it really shows its age. This game wasn’t even the most impressive on these platforms; the original Red Dead Redemption was far more impressive.

No, it looks it. The lack of detail and textures are dead giveaways. The lighting gives it away as well. It looks stenciled.

It still looks good for a game that old, I’d call it a classic at this point. It’s still probably my favorite horror game
Yeah looks like a 2008 game to me.
The enemy literally has no shadow and is lit wrong. Normal maps are low resolution and mushy. The level has very simple geometry with low res textures. The lighting couldn’t be more simple, looks like single pixel-light lighting for dynamic objects, there is no bounce lighting or ambient occlusion. There are no reflections.
Even indie games have better graphics today.
Yeah I remember it! I installed it back then and could only play it for a few minutes because of the horrible FOV and controls, then uninstalled. Maybe it’s time to give it another try.

A horror game that actually looks fantastic for the year it came out is the evil within. It came out 10 years ago yet in 4K with maxed out settings actually looks like it could have come out this year because of how good the art style is

If you wanted to make a ‘game released in x, believe it or not!’ you should have went with Crysis, that game was way ahead of its time.

I’ve been debating playing the original. I tried playing the remake but the stuttering is unbearable. I did like the game though, just can’t stand the stuttering
