Having brought the original assassin’s creed III years ago, I can no longer access a single player DLC because they shut down the servers to validate my key. The remaster that I have to buy separate to grant me access is £33.99 ($39.99).

I have a backlog of games as many people do. Having finished the story of ACIII on ps3 when it first came out it was low down on my list when it came to my pc games. But I brought it first chance I got because it’s honestly my second favorite AC game. (Next to ACII) Bear in mind I only played up to Black Flag (I haven’t played Unity onwards) I’m playing it now thanks to the familiarity being comforting in a difficult time.

The problem is I don’t see how you can defend this. When Skyrim Special edition came out I got it free because I owned the original. When Metro redux came out I was offered a discounted price during a limited time because I owned the original. Maybe AC did the same thing but the point is Metro 2077 as far as I’m aware doesnt have inaccessible single player DLC which you decided to release properly attached to a remaster. 4 AC games have been realised before then, many of which, such as AC 1 and 2 are still loved and I expect many people would buy a remaster of those, including myself. But somehow a game released in 2012, with mixed reviews is somehow more inportant than a game released in 2008 with glowing reviews at the time is more important.

Why couldn’t they just remove the validation. If they want a DLC key, I have it. If they wanted to move us to a remaster why is it still so expensive despite removing multiplayer and having a list full of changes which are so diverse I can’t say if I agree with them all.

It’s Ubisoft. They could have made it that your DLC transferred (or some mechanism that would have allowed you to play without rebuying). But they want that extra dough. One of the many reasons why people call it Ubishit.

It may be a long shot, but have you tried reaching out to Ubisoft support about it? Maybe they can honor the code somehow and get you access to download the DLC.

It’s probably go to happen to other games too.

This shit is why Ross from Accursed Farms started a IRL campaign to get legislation passed so that games can’t just have their plug pulled from practices exactly like this.
