Naive, he seems to have looked at Dexter as his ticket to the top, we both know how that panned out
tbh before this job Dex was in the same boat as us, fast tracking to the top not thinking of the consequences of his actions. He gets a bad rep because of how things went down. If that guy didnt decide to kill his father all of a sudden, his plan was flawless.
I don’t know if he was naive as much as he was very desperate to make it happen. Getting into the big leagues meant a lot to him, sometimes landmines look like opportunities when you want something bad enough
Neither. The only person to speak wary of him Is Vik ( an optional dialogue tree to boot). Evelyn was punching above her weight class, thought he was washed up, and was out to fleece him.
Jackie, T-Bug (who has had past dealings with him) viewed him as a known quantity in the Night City underworld., with a decent reputation. As we all know, you’re not stepping foot in the Afterlife of all places without your credentials in order. Their greatest fault, was not being AT ALL curious about the circumstances of his 2 year exile. Cause Im with ya on this, a so called ” big shot” don’t just get run out of town like that.
At the end of the day Jackie, Evelyn, and Dex wanted the same thing,( regardless of how noble or pure their intentions were): A quick and easy path to fame, riches, and noteriety- to increase their station in life. And none of them saw beyond the present moment, least of all the potential outcome of their decisions, no matter how ill conceived and convincing their plots and plans were. They had tunnel vision, and were quick to sign the dotted line for a on a one way ticket to disaster.

He’s a mix of naive and overenthusiastic. He really wants his big break, and jumped on the first possible opportunity for that. Anyone else would be rightfully sceptical of a job where they steal from *Yorinobu Arasaka*
Jackie is big on merc lore but he’s not on the inside track. He gets his information about the big players by what appears on the net and Valentino skuttlebutt. Prior to the game Dex had been a big deal, a known quality around the Afterlife. Then something got messed up in Pacifica and he had to flee Night City.
I’m guessing that the nature of that screwup wasn’t really public knowledge so all Jackie knows is that a big name Fixer has returned to Night City and is looking for a crew *. He’s not really worried that a big name like Dex would need to use small fry like Jackie and V because the meeting was set up by T-Bug who Jackie trusts.
People are very important to Jackie, once you are in with him he tends to stick by his friends. Jackie likes T-Bug, probably way more than ‘Bug likes Jackie** and the fact that she vouches for Dex, coupled with Dex’s previous rep, keeps Jackie from analysing the situation.
* Vik has heard a little more about what happened with Dex, hence his advice to be cautious in optional dialogue during V’s first visit. While not an “insider” I’m sure Vik hears a lot from loose lipped mercs on his table.
** I didn’t see the promotional cinematic until after I played the game the first time, but as a new player there always seemed to be something “off” about ‘Bugs relationship with Jackie and V. Jackie seems to view her as the third member of the team, he’s kind of light and playful when he’s talking to her, while she is all business. In the Afterlife meeting she is sitting with Dex and not with Jackie and V. Her dreams are to make a big enough score to get out of the business while Jackie wants a big score to go higher in the business. I am guessing that the original story had T-Bug betray V as in the Cinematic but that was taken out somewhere before the production game.
