They are really only cooking because their Day 0 and 1 performance was mediocre or broken. Now that there drivers have matured to even beat AMD in a lot of ray tracing tests, all they have to do is keep their Day 0 and 1 drivers at least say 80% baked, even if when AMD comes out they are 90% or 95% and nvidia also 90 or 95% baked

They missed their chance of launching Arc during the lockdowns + cryptopocalypse. Many more gamers would have taken a chance on Arc during that shortage.
Still, it’s impressive how far they’ve gotten in just one generation.

I’m eagerly awaiting Battlemage and was hoping it would have been ready for shelves with Computex coming up but doesn’t seem so much.
I was enjoying starting in on the OneAPI SDKs and going down that learning path but the wind got kicked out of my sails during the Alchemist early days as you couldn’t find an Arc A770 anywhere and I had hoped to stack a pile of em to make an el cheapo rendering unit. Then the price went up due to supply. Boo.
If Battlemage does launch at the rumoured $450 USD I’m going to war to get my hands on 2, that’s a lot of rendering power for nearly half of what I paid for my 4090.

Intel makes their first few products perfect but gradually starts producing worse ones at higher prices. Like, I’m still using a 2500K, and as a second-generation processor, it’s definitely a beast and offers great value for money.

It’s insane how good the value of Arc cards are for brand new cards. I thank everyone who has purchased Arc cards for encouraging Intel to keep making them because they’ve only improved since launch and more competition is better

Not really true. The only reason people are giving them a chance is that they’re good price to performance, and because AMD/Nvidia keep hiking their prices up. Best believe that they’ll join AMD/Nvidia with their pricing as soon as they have a stronger presence in the market.

Alchemist was delayed several times. When it finally released it competed with previous generation Nvidia GPUs. Battlemage was scheduled for Q2 2024. We’re almost at the end of Q2 and it’s still MIA. They’ll probably be rolling it out around the same time as the Nvidia 50 series, once again competing with the previous generation. Although I would love them to give Nvidia some stiff competition it’s not looking great so far.
