Arrowhead Studios wants to remain independent even after Helldivers 2’s massive success: “The humbleness and the desire to just make great games is the only reason we exist”

Does it matter? I just checked the Steam reviews and they’re mixed/mostly positive. That’s not the sign of a good game

Acquisition means some entertainment cartel smothers the beautiful kitten you joyously watched take its first steps and nurtured. Arrowhead then watches that thing they loved tortured in a cruel snuff film while the brand is slowly crushed. Examples of this being Occulus Rift, and Blizzard.

The headline tells on itself. “Even after” frames acquisition as a good thing that rewards success. Arrowhead just took larger studios to the cleaners and made them look ossified and lame. All monolithic institutions eventually grow too bloated to function and SEARS themselves. Eventually an Arrowhead grows and becomes the new behemoth. You need to stay in the game to take out those who try and take out competition through acquisition.

Which you can predict because media is writing about it. The entertainment cartels pay journalists for the article. For help hunting their white whales. Media makes its money from writing-bounties of this sort. The old advertising model died with arrival of the media.

The studio has such a bright future ahead, so let’s just hope for the best.

I’m humble too till someone says “Here’s 200 million dollars”.

After Sony unilaterally tanked a lot of their goodwill due to no fault of Arrowhead why on super earth would they wish to remain independent?  /s

  9. I have a feeling the humbleness and desire for a lot of money can change opinions real quick
