I mean, tons of kids got into gaming by building shit in Minecraft so this isn’t the most outlandish thing.
The outlandish part is when that self-expression turns into buying overpriced shit for your digital avatar.
It’s a pretty different viewpoint from how I view games. I really just play games for fun. I don’t see any creation or self-expression at all. I know there are games like that but I’m not interested in them at all. They are more like a game of tag between kids. Just an activity for fun.

I dunno about artistic expression for the player, but it’s definitely art. You can tell a different type of story with a game than you can with a novel or film.
