Me too, I tried Linux for sometime but I have to dual boot and switch back and forth, it wasn’t worth it.

I personally got tired of playing cat and mouse with windows and their insane telemetry and tracking bs… And don’t get me started on their sneaky shit of changing shit back and reverting considerably stuff frok what I had changed and not even informing me after every update….
Literally making an effort to learn Linux mint. And most games I play are single player or gacha games lol. They can be played thru wine or I can play them on my phone. Apart from that for everything else productivity wise Linux just works for me. Hopefully Windows down the road doesn’t make it more insufferable…. But with the arm chip ai laptops I can only see it go down on this path more..
Kinda miss when windows had to compete with the market and actually make better products 🙁

Well, Windows probably isn’t much of a trouble for you yet. But for me and many others, getting rid of it or at least dual booting was a relief.
Been playing games, doing digital painting, browsing, etc. for nearly 4 years on Fedora Linux. Made the switch when I learned Magic Arena can run on Linux. Never gonna go back to Windows.

For all its faults, Windows is at least compatible with pretty much everything and is easier to use. Everything feels like a hassle in Linux, the only thing I’ve ever managed to do with Linux is change the wallpaper.

for me whats stopping my complete move to linux is zbrush(i cant get wintab to work ;-;) and my spacemouse driver not working

I doubt that most of the games you play don’t work. But you do you. Linux is about freedom and you’re just as free to not use it as you are to use it.

Honestly given the route W11 is taking, once the end of W10 support comes, I’ll keep two machines running it, one for driving and racing games, then other being my main machine on dual-boot, so I can use software like Solidworks and the Adobe suite. For all other purposes I think I’m ready to make the switch to linux, almost all of my games are on Steam, which helps a lot. Maybe one day I’ll even be able to switch my CAD and photo/video editing work to linux, but in the meantime, I’m gonna keep W10 around. If they don’t upgrade it at work I sure as hell won’t do it at home.

I’m experimenting with Linux here and there on my secondary SSD.
And it’s not there yet, maybe it will catch parity one day, but my main issues were HDR support (soon should be available if I’m not mistaken), some of my peripherals doesn’t work on Linux, and I’m not buying new headphones just for OS swap, and RDNA3 RT performance were 50% less on Linux then Windows.

Nobody is shaming anyone for forfeiting privacy for convenience. Do what you find best for you own setup and environment and match it to your own abilities
I personally choose it over windows because as DevOps engineer it feels more familiar to me than anything created by Microsoft. I use it at work and I use it at home. It’s not about being trendy

I think I could switch if Logitech released their Software for Linux. Please don’t reply with some third party solution. I heard about them.
If we are being real, the main difference between troubleshooting windows and linux is the amount of support/answers you find online. Some issues on Linux can be quite exotic.

80-90% of steam games run on linux. Lutris and wine can run other game launches like b.net
I’ll keep windows on a 250GB drive just in case i need it, but it feels like I’m not going to need it.
