
So title kind of explains my question. I built a brand new system a while back based on the 7800x3d and a 4070ti SUPER.
The motherboard is MSI b-650 Gaming Plus Wifi, and i (unfortunately) paired that mobo with RAM that is not found on the QVL (my bad – it's been a while since I built a PC, and I primarily looked for kits with an EXPO profile instead of checking the QVL) -> the model is F5-6000J3038F16GX2-FX
So long story short, i built it, updated BIOS before installing windows, enabled EXPO and was quite happy about the performance for a while;
That is until I actually notice, that I'm experiencing some issues with stability in certain games, and also notice, that even though my fps is very high in E-sports titles, theres still a fair amount of input lag, as well as the occasional crash.
So i read around on reddit, and notice a lot of discussions about high- speed ram and issues with am5, and i get the idea to try and lower my RAM speed from 6000 -> 5200.
I f10 from BIOS, and instantly notice that everything feels snappier, lighter, and my FPS / Latency performance improves A LOT. I tried changing it back to 6000, and we're back to a great performance, but again with the input latency / crashing issues.
Since i've tuned it up to 5600, and applied buildzoid's timings (based on this video) and found that this is the highest i can go without unnecessary input-latency being re-introduced.
Which leads me to my actual question: is this an issue? should i try and get new ram, or am i losing out on anything by running a kit that is rated for 6000 MT/s at 5600 MT/s?
My FPS is higher than at 6000, my latency is lower, and performance feels amazing – i feel like i shouldn't be bothered, since what I've configured now works amazing for my needs. At the same time, i don't understand anything about RAM overclocking/underclocking. Let me know if I'm missing something!

If you’re happy eith the performance I’d say leave it. Getting something stable can take days of testing for relatively small gains, ddr5 seems especially fickle for stability, thay being said 6000 should require too much tuning.
it is an issue with amds infinity fabric. some cpus just lose the cpu silicon lottery, as AMD only guarantees that their 7000 series can run ddr 5 at 5200 for two sticks and 3600 with four. anything else you get is luck of the draw.
i rmad my 7950x and received a 7950x3d that wasnt even stable with two sticks of ddr5 at 4800. Im dealing with a second rma now.
