Pretty sure the cyan circle should envelope the whole chart

Zelda games are not technically RPGs. They are adventure games.

Where is Battlefield 1?
nekosake2
these are not subgenres of RPGs.
this chart are just some aspects (that you like) of them.
this chart would be better displayed as a radar chart or multiple sliders for specific games rather than a venn diagram

I don’t know if i’d put Elden Ring into the heavy story department. Most of the stuff already happened and any kind of story ends with “and then everyone involved died lol”

RDR2 is an rpg now?

Would have put Skyrim slap in the middle bucket too. Unless you’re saying there’s no combat choice as stealth archer is always the way to play haha

I’m not sure I’d put Elden Ring in the middle, I don’t think the story is particularly flexible, or at least no more so than Bloodborne. You have impact over the final cutscene, but for the most part quests are either done or not done, but the general narrative remains the same.

I mean, you clearly made up these “sub-genres”
I think you might want to look up the 8 types of fun since that is what you are essentially referring to:
so your “exploration” would be Discovery, “flexible story” would be narrative, and “combat choice” would be Challenge
also yea zelda isn’t an rpg, it only has like 2 statistical aspects being stamina and health, and even those have really no “role” factor to how a player plays the game. it’s straight up action/adventure

You’re missing a lot. “Combat Choice is a meaningless category. You really put Pokemon right next to Monster Hunter World.

Period.
Today I learned that every game is an RPG.
