This is very true. The atmosphere in Mob outclasses the atmosphere of Verrückt in almost every way.

In my opinion, Cod zombies was never scary, most people were just kids when they first played it. Creepy? Maybe, but never scary

nah mob of the dead feels a lot less scary

Bruh, what? I know mob is overrated as f*ck but seriously, you want to tell me that it is even scarier than the literal scariest map in all of the CoD Zombies history? Mob is really overrated. It came after 3 really not well appreciated maps, ones that were not liked by the community, and yes, for the most part for valid reasons, although it became a stupid hate after a while and not logical arguing, but really, mob wasn’t that good. Yes, decent setting, definitely better than the previous ones of BO2 at least in some things but all in all wasn’t that good as people remember it. It is mostly just nostalgia and the feeling that most people get when thinking about this map as it had saved BO2 zombies or whatnot, no, mob wasn’t that great nor was it they scarry. Verrückt has writings on the walls, blood, amazing sound and background music, hidden interactions, screams, the background, the setting, the whole atmosphere is like 1000 times scarier than whatever mob was.

i don’t see what’s scary in Mob of the Dead

Ehh idk the sprinters on the WaW version were pretty damn freaky lol plus the sound bites are more disturbing on Verruckt imo

Mob of the Dead on WaW Engine would be the scariest.

Hotter take:
The only scary map is WaW Nacht, and only when you’ve completed the campaign for the first time
and are unknowingly dropped into the map after the freaky cutscene.
Zombies hasn’t been that scary since.

Completely disagree. While Mob is creepy, I don’t see any aspects that would outclass Verrückt in terms of scariness. Like, Verrückt is literally an abandoned asylum where every room gives you chills, at least in the WAW version. BO3 is a joke and not scary at all, but the OG Verrückt is scary as hell.

Story wise I agree. The idea of being endlessly trapped there was nightmare fuel. Especially being The Weasel who would slowly remember what was going on and have no power to stop it. Atmosphere wise, though, I think Verruckt still takes the cake

Agreed

When you have characters who constantly shout quippy and semi-serious quotes the whole game, Mob loses much of its scariness. While the original nameless Marines in Verrückt also have lines, they feel closer to characters who are genuinely trying to survive a hellish zombie attack.
VolatileUV_115
Both are equally scary in terms of atmospheric immersion and ambience. However, Verrukt is scarier due to it being somewhat realistic rather than just being in hell. In Verrukt, you’re just a group of marines looking for a captive. Only to be swarmed by the undead and eventually overwhelmed by sheer numbers.
The more scary the zombies mode tries to be the less scary it becomes. Something about the WAW-BO1 graphics and sounds made the zombies look even more unnatural and terrifying. Whatever this thing is or what caused this shouldn’t have happened and yet it has and they won’t rest until you’re dead.
